It's both. If Pac had stood in front of him then it would have been better, but he also fought the perfect game plan to make the very shot and weight drained Oscar completely useless. Pac fought very well against a guy that, when it comes down to it, was a shell of his former self.

You can see it in his fight with Forbes at 150 pounds. He didn't have much power, stamina, defense, speed, footwork etc etc. Forbes had him nearly as busted up as Pac did. He face was swollen, cut, bruised, marked up quite badly against a guy that can't really punch and had also moved up for that one fight.

When he came down to WW though, it literally wasted his body and put him in terrible shape. He was shot. There's not much else to it. Roach knew he was shot, which is why he took the fight. "Oscar can't pull the trigger anymore." That is the classic sign of a shot, old fighter and Roach said this many times before their fight and him having to get down to 147, and then not putting any weight on after making the weight by two pounds, really showed he was messed up.

Nonetheless, it was a great fight by the smaller Pac. Still, can you imagine him facing Clottey or Cotto? Oscar would have been blasted out and knocked out, not stopped in his corner.

      the doublestandards are comedic gold.
a featherweight who loss to a past his best erik morales and got lucky to get by juan manuel marquez tko'd the same fighter floyd had a close fight with earlier.

funny how a blowout pacquiao win is more entertaining than a mayweather close fight.

The Forbes fight was one of Oscar's recent fights where for once he HAD stamina and speed. The guy threw 800 plus punches and 30 plus jabs. I know his face got busted up but I thought he looked impressive. Under Mayweather Sr, he was fighting ON HIS TOES for once, unlike agaist Mayweather and Pacquiao, he wasn't hunching over and he was throwing combinations. With Nacho he was completely flat flooted and wasn't using his height. I think the biggest mistake he made was making 147 weeks before the fight. He should of been at about 152 in the last week of training and only trying to make weight for a few hours, like against Forbes when he weighed slightly over at the weigh in.

I'm talking about old Oscar speed. I thought he looked terrible in that fight anyway. You're certainly right though in that he just fought terribly. I don't think he could have boxed even if he had been told to. I think the weight problem killed any legs he had to allow him to get up on his toes and fight that way. The only way he could stay up was to just stand there flat footed. It was a sad sight.

I trust my own eyes before the words of anyone else. Oscar was finished that night. He was getting tagged with punches he'd slip easily five years ago. His own punches (what little he threw) were so slow Manny could have had a cup of tea before they landed.

Prime Oscar would have knocked Manny into a coma.

                he wasn't drained.

they said he was at 150 a week or so before the fight.

                he over dieted.

weight drain is trying to lose water to come in underweight and then blow back up.

what oscar did was keep his weight down throughout his training.

mannys southpaw stance exposed oscar's hidden weakness...he doesnt think too good! it's been hinted at here and there most notably by freddie and bob arum but also from oscar's own mouth. mayorga post fight interview. he made reference to having trained 4 yrs with mayweather snr before it finally 'got through'.
                      to summerize then:
                      1. lil bit weight drained
                      2. manny was too quick
                      3. manny was too southpaw
                      4. oscar's cpu failed massively
