Boring is Wlad-Rahman. And Wlad-Thompson (save for the ending). And Wlad-Ibragimov...

Gomez is a legit Top 10 heavy and going into the fight, stylistically was supposed to present Vitali with fits. That same fighter showed up on Saturday (albeit a bit too fleshy) and got handled, at least from round two onward.
Thats a pretty honest statement. I thought Vitali's dealing with a sneaky southpaw with his slower, awkward style ended up being a great fight from about round 2 - 3 on. Vitali does get in the phone booth alot more than Wlad courtesy of his decent chin, which at least gives the other guy some chance of landing shots.

Oh no! Why oh why did boxingscene publish this article? Now, Klit fanboys are gonna have an "I told you so" field day with this. They're gonna feel so validated now.

The tone of this article was anti-Atlas. What is he supposed to do? Lie and say the Heavyweight Division is the best it's been in years? Get super excited every time either fighter landed a paw? Point out that Vitali seemed gassed and was breathing out of his mouth in the middle rounds?

And by the way, any color commentator is there to give his opinion.

Wahhh. Poor Vitali, poor Vitali fans.

You know what this sounds like. It sounds like someone who was mad that Atlas didn't stroke Vitali's ego the whole night. Please excuse Teddy Atlas for being honest and to be honest myself, I think he was right on.

Vitali's fans can cry all day about him being disrespected and what not, but Atlas was only stating the truth. Gomez is not a very good heavyweight and until the heavyweight division gets deeper, Atlas is exactly right.

I for one will not go around praising Vitali and saying how he's so great. For one, becuase his brother has been the greater champion. And two, Vitali has never really beaten anyone that's made me go "wow".

To Ted Atlas, I say screw the fanboys who are angry. You said what you said because you meant it and it's true. Don't let people sway you into talking up the heavyweight division when it's ****, and has been for a long time.

This isn't the 50's, where the commentator on radio gives us play by play, the commentators now give their opinions and most would agree with Atlas.

The heavyweight division sucks and Vitali's and Wlad's style of pawing with their jab at their smaller opponents is boring. With no guys of Lennos Lewis's skill level and size around, they will continue to win. Of course there is always a chance a smaller opponent goes Lamon Brewster/Cory Sanders on either one of em.
          agreed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

              Great article!

Atlas was over the top with his negativity toward the Klitschkos. He sounded like a bitter old man.

We don't have a problem when announcers say "what a great fight", "this is great action", or "these guys are warriors", why? Because they are all positive statements. If Atlas was speaking positively of the fight or the fighters, no one would have a problem with him mixing opinion with commentary, which is what color commentary is supposed to be. But because Atlas was critical of the heavyweight division and critical of Vitali, he's out of line. Give me a break!

Let's face it everyone. The heavyweight division is not what it used to be. If Saturday night was shown 15 years ago as a heavyweight fight, it would be mocked to no end.

Bernard and Floyd have been discredited so much by those analysis that its a shame.......it comes with the territory and Vitali shouldn't be exempt from that sort of anti-cheerleadin' from the voices we hear while watchin' the fights.........Hopkins vs Pavlik, DLH vs Mayweather, Calzaghe vs Hopkins, Mayweather vs Hatton......listen to those HBO broadcasts and tell me if those dudes took sides and discredited Hopkins and Mayweather......Larry Merchant during Mayweather-DLH, "Mayweather is throwin' just one punch at a time".....Manny Stward "he's always done that".......Larry M. "well thats something Oscar is exploitin'"...........the same Larry Merchant wouldn' admit that pavlik was exposed by B-Hop....its crazy! Teddy rides Vitali the wrong way and it gets a article......I've seen articles about Mosley's and Toney's positive dopin' tests around here alot but the big man Vitali tested positive once also, but its on "hush hush charlotte" around here......double standard would be cool.....at least yall didn't have to pay $50 to hear yall man get hated on all night.......

No Vitali fan would agree with Teddy. He doesn't deny that he hates them.

First time Wlad was ever on ESPN in 1999, Teddy did the same thing. Wlad fought a perfect fight and won by a second round KO, but Teddy bashed him throughout the broadcast.
