Floyd Mayweather fan = not a true Boxing fan

Robinson at one point was 128-1 or something like that. He was the first guy with an entourage and he wanted lots of money, but he still took on all comers and didn't duck anybody. So no, it was not a bad example what so ever. Mayweather hasn't fought Williams, Clottey, Cotto or Margarito at WW. And he's thinking about fighting guys like Pacquiao and Marquez. Big difference. Robinson would demand lots of money, but at the end of the day he would fight all those guys.Sugar Ray Robinson is one of the worst examples you could use of an old-time fighter who wasn't about the money. Robinson was notorious for fighting for every last dollar in the contract, pulling out of fights, driving promoters nuts. By his own admission, he fought for the money and saw it as a business.
He wasn't going to take fights without being properly compensated for it. But since fighters got paid less back then, he still had to fight way more often.Comment

You're not making sense man. You're not stating facts. Cotto took a knee twice in the 11th round against Margarito;that's a fact. Cotto sucks and is not a true champion because he has not win a title agains a defending champion; That'll be an opinion, and it's unargueble. It's called trolling. Yu in the othe hand, are saying straight up opinons about Mayweather. No logical facts at all.Comment

Mayweather said he'll fight Mosley for 20 mil. Lot of money and taking on a challenege. Not his fault they didn't have the money.Robinson at one point was 128-1 or something like that. I just said it, because he is irrelevant in this thread. If i tried to stick up for him you would of succeeded in getting off the subject.
Nice try though.Comment

Robinson priced himself out of a Charley Burley fight.Robinson at one point was 128-1 or something like that. Robinson would demand lots of money, but at the end of the day he would fight all those guys.
Local promoters in Minnesota tried to hype a fight between the two and put them on the same card. Robinson beat **** Banner and Burley beat George Wilson, both of them in impressive early KO fashion.
Then Robinson suddenly doubled his previous demand of $25,000 to $50,000.
He declared that he was "too pretty to fight Burley".
Robinson had some exhibition scheduled, but when he found out his opponent was Cocoa Kid, he walked out. And never bothered to fight Cocoa in a real fight.
Of course Robinson and fighters of his time fought more top guys. They fought more often.
What the hell makes you think he'd be "all over a Paul Williams fight" when Williams is a high risk/low reward? Why do you think when he faced bigger opponents, very risky fights, like Jake LaMotta, that they were white fighters, not the Black Murderers Row? Because the money was in an opponent like LaMotta, not a Burley, Cocoa, Booker or a Chase.
Robinson, with his brilliant negotiating tactics, would most likely be sitting on a comfy HBO contract and fighting the biggest money fights available, not a low-reward fight like Williams.Comment
Cheers lads........Nice one.
