I was queitly confident Ricky would win this one before as he is the bigger stronger guy probably the puncher at 140 and has the fastest feet in boxing so can close the gap real quick not to mention he cuts the ring off pretty good, Hatton is a BULLY he thrives on being the stronger guy in there which he will be against Manny.
But as it gets closer im starting to think its a Manny win, Hitman has trouble with southpaws i still cant get the Eamon Magee KD outta my head and Pac has a great Left hand, mabey not a Bazooka of a left hand at 140 but hard enough, fast and accurate. I keep thinking of Ricky charging in and getting tagged by Hard lefts, Ricky dont like it to the body none either and Manny will go there, plus i think Pac has the stamina to fight at Rickys pace and even outlast him down the stretch
BOTH guys have good chins and resolve but BOTH have been stopped and have been hurt, Manny was stopped a lifetime ago but Marquez buzzed him a bit and Ricky is way more of a heavy handed guy than him. Hatton got stopped by Pretty Boy Floyd but more worryingly he got hurt by Lazcana a LW really, so there is a good chance for a stoppage EITHER way.
Im on the fence right now.
But IF The Hitman wins, i can see a HUGE EPIC showdown with Brittians own and Pacs stablemate Amir Khan! Now u guys will go on about how crap Khan is but ur idiots, he has a chance here and fregardless of that this fight, at last in the UK, Is COLOSSOL its the biggest fight that can be made here in my opinonComment

It seems some people don't want to see how improved Ricky looked against Malignaggi. I understand that Malignaggi is not the greatest opponent, but he's not as bad as people make out - Ricky made him look worse than he ever has. Hatton looked really good, showing some good footwork, head movement, powerful jabs etc, and was able to catch a very quick and slippery boxer flush with some heavy shots.
Pacquiao is not gonna like how Ricky moves, how quick he is, how strong he is, how awkward his style is. Everyone is saying that Ricky will take shots coming in, well I believe that Pacquiao is gonna be taking some shots coming in as well and the sheer force of them may scare Pacquiao off from his usual game plan. I think Ricky is gonna deter Pac early on and the fight will be very close.Comment

Guys that have given Pac recently have had good straight right hands, aka Morales and Marquez. Guys with no straight right hands aka Barrera, DLH, Diaz ect have given Manny no problems at all. Hatton has no straight right hand. AKA easy fight for Manny.Comment

I hear a lot of talk (mainly from pac fans) about how easy this fight will be for manny. They say his southpaw stance, handspeed and power will enable him to KO hatton
I'm not too convinced, this will be a war where manny will have to fight up close and trade a lot, you cant really stick and move vs ricky like pac did to the old flat footed DLH, ricky is too fast on his feet and too good at cutting off the ring, you need to stand up close, use short range defensive techniques and fast accurate counters to beat hatton, just like floyd did, occasionally moving away to keep composure and starting again, and manny cant do that half as well as floyd
manny has the fast hands and power to compete with hatton offensively, but im not too sure how well manny will go if hatton makes him fight a phonebooth style fight (which he will), the ref wont let hatton clinch heaps but he wil allow lots of up close action as long as both fighters are punching and not holding. manny has a good chin, but he was wobbled a few times vs marquez, and hatton is a heavier hitter than JMM, especially to the body. im not sure how manny will go fighting in a war against naturally bigger and stronger guy who doesnt let you move a lot...
he will catch hatton a lot coming in, but he doesnt have one punch KO pop above 130, and hatton's chin is quite good, he was ko'd by a very accurate and underated puncher in floyd, and that was at 147
but if manny cant hurt hatton badly as he comes in (and hatton has gotten better defensively too), can't handle the rough and tumble up close with the bigger and stronger hatton, can't use the ring as much as he always does, and is put off by hattons heavy body punching early, how the hell will he win this fight?
the answer: i think his best bet is to catch hatton as much as he can, open a cut, and just hang in there, keep nailing the cut, getting the blood to flow and getting the fight stopped before hatton takes him out (which will take time as manny is tough and has a good chin/body)
but if he cant get that cut going early, or cant tag it enough to get the fight stopped, i think manny might be in for a highly competitive fight which will turn into an ass kicking as it progresses and hattons strength and body punching wears manny downComment

The Lazcano fight was something different. Yes, Ricky did wobble near the end of the bout, but I thought it was as much to do with exhaustion as anything else. Hatton looked shattered from the eighth round. I did wonder whether age was catching up with him but Floyd Sr. seems to have changed his batteries.
Manny must be the favourite because of his advantages in speed, athleticism and attacking potential, but I just can't see Hatton being trampled upon as some in here are predicting. I think this will be the fight in which Manny discovers the price of moving up to fight bigger and bigger men. If Oscar had been anything other than a hole in the air he would have given Manny the bill.

Its simple really.
Scenario 1: Ricky rushes in, no head movement, in straight lines.
Outcome: Pacquiao by knockout.
Scenario 2: Ricky uses his jab, circles away from the left hand lead, leads with the occasional hook to body, smothers pac, elbows, forearms him on the inside.
Outcome: Hatton by KO.Comment

So, you think that Ricky has hired a new trainer, none other than Floyd Mayweather Snr, one of the best in the game, and is not going to listen and apply his newly taught style and tactics? You think he's gonna be the same Ricky Hatton that faught against PBF?? Well you're gonna be in for a REAL shock, mate, believe me.
It seems some people don't want to see how improved Ricky looked against Malignaggi.
i stopped reading right there
its easy to try 'all the new things floyd sr showed him' when his opponent punches like an infant...
paulie offered no resistance..he didnt have the power nor the determination in that fight to earn ricky's respect
i liken it to when tito fought mayorga
people raved about how 'awesome' the 'new and improved' tito was...all of a sudden tito had 'lateral movement' he even 'set up feints'...he displayed 'beatiful, never seen before head movement'...
it was because he was fightin a no-dimensional mayorga...
who moved up from WW to MW
mayorga, like paulie, offered no resistance and tito became ray robinson that night
so what happened when he fought a COMPLETE opposite of Mayorga when he faced Winky?
yup....you guessed it...he looked like an old titoComment
