there is a chance floyd's timing will suffer because of the lay off.The way Floyd fights..His D and his O for that matter...It all revolves around him having that muscle twich reflex faster then anybody else I have ever seen in my life...If he loses just a fraction of that speed it will effect his game more then any other fighter IMO...
Though i'm sure he can change his game up like MJ did when he came back...like all the greats can.
And be for I get attacked by Floydboys...I hope he hasn't lost anything I'm just bringing up a topic...Comment

Floyd doesn't rely entirely on speed though. You guys are making it out to be a situation like with Roy Jones that if he loses his speed then he's just fu(ked and I don't think that's the case. Floyd always had a basic understanding of how to break just about any fighter down. He's going to continue to have that. Look Bernard Hopkins and even James Toney aren't really fast fighters. But they know how to break their opponents down and that's why they were able to win big fights even late in their careers. Floyd will have that until the day he stops fighting.
Roy Jones never really had that. He was faster than Floyd Mayweather. The same is probably true with Zab Judah, but they didn't always look to break opponents down and it hurt them later in their careers when they started to lose their speed. I just don't see a loss in speed hurting Mayweather to the extent that it hurt Jones and Judah. I'm thinking Floyd will age more like Ali. Yeah he'll get hit more and he may even lose a few fights, but he'll still be able to beat some great fighters.Comment

I wouldn't say he has the same intangibles as Ali, but it is true that unlike Roy Jones and Zab Judah, Floyd Mayweather has the skills to dominate even if his speed is not what it used to be. That shoulder roll he uses is not based on speed, if it was Jones and Judah would have used it, but rather it requires skills that took years of practice to master.Floyd doesn't rely entirely on speed though. I was getting ready to say the same thing. He has a solid foundation when it comes to fundamentals and I think this will allow him to continue fighting by refining his style even after he loses some speed, like Hopkins.Floyd doesn't rely entirely on speed though. it's plausible that he lost a step, he definetly wouldn't be as dominant anymore
but I think he'd be able to do alrightComment
