Yeah, agreed. But I do think he thought if he beat Pacquiao it might coax Mayweather out of retirement. Oscar was pissed off that Floyd retired! Beating the P4P #1 might be tempting enough to get Floyd to come back for another fight.

Something else to throw into the mix: Pac expressed an interest in fighting Hatton even before he fought David Diaz. That's another reason I don't believe Oscar was trying to set up Pac with Hatton, because Pac-Hatton would have gone ahead without Oscar being in the picture at all.

As to a potential Hatton v. Mayweather 2, if PBF has a 'tune up' (cough...) against JMM that's as likely to be at 140 as at 147, particularly if he fancies Pacquiao after that. At that weight, my money is on Hatton.
Really? I think Floyd obliterates Hatton at any weight. The weight is really not an issue, IMO, it's a matter of Floyd being on an entirely different level to Hatton. They are worlds apart in terms of skills. 7 pounds isn't gonna save his ass from getting beaten again.

Another thing -- given that Mayweather Sr. has been on Ricky's team for a while, don't you think he knows all Ricky's faults and would certainly expose them to lil' Floyd? I do. He already said he wouldn't work Ricky's corner if the fight ever happens.

The best thing for boxing is that it's a good close fight and the guy who's teh best on the night wins.

This is a boxing showcase and the last thing boxing needs is refereeing or Judging controvercy.

the assumption that it's best for boxing that Pac wins so he can face PBF is flawed because PBF is never coming back.

I'm surprise to find out that you've been a member here since 2004 yet you're still clueless. So you are saying that hoya did not attack pac so that hatton versus pac could be made. Damn, that's very dumb and can only come from the mouth of an imbecile LOL.

They're not equal, look at side by side pics - can't be bothered posting one but Hatton is definitely bigger.

So what people are saying is, if Hatton wins, then Pacquiao is finished?? Why couldn't a Pac/Mayweather fight happen even if Hatton beats him? Pacquiao is not undefeated and so I don't see why losing this fight would end the possibility of him getting major fights. In fact Mayweather is more likely to fight Pacquiao should he loose to Hatton...

Even if that were true, who cares? You think it does anything to see Hatton beat Pac & then Floyd? You have to look at the big picture and Hatton isnt it

Dude no one wants to see that fight if Pac loses to Hatton. Who wants to see that when Floyd already knocked Hatton out? If Pac couldnt beat Hatton and Floyd just beat JMM, then there is no way that Pac would have any chance against Floyd and no one in the world wants to see Floyd-Hatton again. The only way it would even be a little interesting is if it was in England at 140 but I dont see that happening and it still isnt a super fight like Floyd-Pac would be

I also shouldve added the RJ-Toney fight in the original thread. That was a big fight but both guys werent in there prime and Toney was a dead man walking after losing all that weight. I think Floyd & Pac would live up to the hype

What if Pac loses by a split decision? What if Hatton really looks improved? What if he lost by some controversy? The only way, to me, it wouldn't be interesting is if Hatton completely dominates him and KO's him early on.
