I agree that beating Adamek shouldn't really affect his ATG ranking one way or the other, though, except in the sense that he'd have won a lineal world championship in a third division, which is a great achievement.

It's unfortunate for Dawson, though, as a win over Hopkins is the sort of thing he needs to become accepted as a dominant champion.
I pretty much agree with that BUT

Joe Calzaghe should/could have fought him..... Thats what he (Dawson) needs.

Valid debate for another thread, not this one, it's off topic.

Hopkins and Hatton both need to learn how to fight, not wrestle. You take that game away from them, they lose.

Hopkins is way worse than Hatton I have to admit. His fights are the biggest boring jokefests of the planet. Hold, punch, hold, punch (repeat for entire fight and add wrestling and headbutting in there.)

Agree with you, Riz. That's very poor journalism.

So in other words, its cool for Hopkins, supposedly the #4 p4p fighter in the world, (irregardless of age mind you cause he's already proven he can fight at the top level in his 40's) to fight a limited champion with a solid name than fight an equally skilled fighter closer to his natural weight class, who has as much name recognition as the limited fighter at this stage...beat him even...

you've pretty much co-signed hopkins to easily beat a limited fighter and rest assured he'll get a ton of recognition for doing it to boot...just the thing us hopkins critics loathe him for....

He's rated P4P #3 by The Ring, not #4, but if you can't see that he's slowed down in the last few years, you're blind. He got his P4P rating because he is still one of the most skilled fighters in the game, and can still beat most elite fighters - but he can no longer beat very fast fighters like Dawson.

At age 44, he has every right to fight anyone he likes, he doesn't owe anyone anything, least of all internet critics like you.

Adamek would put up a good fight but would loose a decision in the end. Hopkins has good skills but boasts them more whith styles like that of Adameks. Hopkins would make this a very dull fight, especially in moving up to cruiser weight because it would be hugging galore.
