I was gonna say something, but i did not wanna sound argumentative

    Ill say it now though

Randall used the jab a lot more consistently to blind Chavez. Mayweather does not do that.

The main point i was gonna make is..........Chavez was not in his prime then.

I dont know, comparing Mayweather to Randall is kind of a stretch. first off Chavez was on the downslide when that fight happened...not shot or anything, but slowly fading.

second off, Randall was a boxer puncher, who actually threw a lot of punches. watch his fights with Chavez or Juan Martin Coggi, he just never stops. and he was mostly a hard one-two puncher, lots of jabs and right hands. not really a Mayweather style.

If you have to compare a Chavez opponent to Mayweather, you would have to go for his uncle Roger. watch some of Roger's fights, him and Mayweather have the same style. while most people will agree that Mayweather is better than Roger in many areas, Roger is actually very underrated. he was a BIG puncher, especially with that right hand, and he had a great jab and uppercut. and leading up to his fight with Chavez, he had picked up the nickname 'The Mexican Assassin' because he was so good at dealing with pressure style fighters. If youve ever seen his fight with Pazienza, you would know how good Roger was defensively at 140. even at 140 Roger wasnt the most durable guy ever, but an old version of him was still able to last the distance with a wrekcing ball version of Kostya Tsyzu(not many people can say that).

Chavez had some trouble early in that fight, I had him losing about 3 rounds...but he took over later in the fight, and made Roger quit. Roger didnt win those rounds on defense alone, he won them by landing some good, hard shots on Chavez. If all he landed were pitty pat shots, I might not have given him a single round.

Chavez would have a better chance of beating Mayweather than Duran would. Mayweather would keep Duran turning and frustrate the hell out of him just like Benitez,Leonard and Laing did.

I agree Roger was really good but he isn't nearly as fast as Floyd and his chin wasn't the best. Pernell had him hurt and Pernell isn't a big puncher (Unless he caught you coming in) Roger is a harder puncher then Floyd, slightly harder I'll say and he was good at hiding the right hand but we gotta be real, Roger doesn't move like Floyd...reason why JCC caught up to him and dropped him

I think Mayweather's jab to the body, forearms will be the key to victory against someone like JCC.

There we will have to disagree, I love Floyd but Duran is something else.

Except Mayweather has arguably the best defense. Meldrick? Not so much...

Using the Whitaker and Meldrick Taylor fights, it shows that JCC struggles against fighters with speed (Taylor) and Defense/Movement (Whitaker) Floyd has both of them. Chavez was behind on the scorecards when Meldrick was beating him, MT was comfortably ahead on the scorecards as he built an early lead. The thing is Floyd wouldn't get caught like Meldrick did in the last round due to his defense and concentration. Mayweather potshots him making him miss like Pernell did while countering with speed like Meldrick did, but Meldrick didn't defend himself which cost him the fight in the last second.

Juan La Porte was the first fighter to show JCC can be hurt, Meldrick the first to show he can be outboxed. Whitaker followed the formula, dominated the fight, yet didn't get the decision.

Yeah you are right he was a fantastic fighter, but i just look at how movement frustrated Duran, and i cant see how he would of caught up with Floyd in a 12 rounder. Especially if the Floyd from Castillo 2 showed up.

In a 15 round fight maybe, but 12 rounds. I cant see it.

He did not look hurt to me in the La Porte fight, and i watched that fight about a week ago.

Floyd Jr would UD him. Chavez was real venerable to pure boxers.
