Truly, I have seen several Clottey fights and this is his only weakness that I can see.

His defense is near perfect, he has speed, throws great combos, has power and footwork. He just gets too complacent at times. His condition is superb so I don't know why he chills so much. He should attack Cotto and pressure him all night. This will be closer than the Mosley fight I imagine, if it is an in-fight- Cotto should watch out for the Clottey uppercut.

clottey is a strong and big WW, but he doesnt have this "big power" ur talking about.
Cotto will do the same thing he did to Abdullaev he'll break him down and take him out in the later rounds when Clottey's questionable stamina is worn down by Cotto's body attack.
clottey isn't abdullaev. cotto's stamina is questionable too though.

clottey is a counterpuncher, so the more cotto punches, the more opportunities he will give clottey. I think their punch stats will look similiar. cotto will look to conserve his energy so he doesnt gas (if he's smart).

The only thing that impressed me about Abdullaev was his punching power. He was ultra aggressive but it seemed like he relied too heavily on that right hand and not enough on his boxing.

I think Clottey is a much better boxer than Abdullaev but they did have a similar defensive style with their hands held high. Clottey is much more mobile and counters a lot better, not to mention the unreal size difference.

Cotto style is he adapts in the ring. If you put pressure on him he moves and boxes. If your moving and boxing he puts pressure. It has been like that his ENTIRE career despite people claiming hes just a come forward brawler. Margarito puts pressure, so Cotto boxes. Just like he did against Ndou who put pressure on him, Abdullaev, Bazan, Maussa. That's Cotto's style.

Styles makes fights. Clottey will pressure him with his tight defense going, so Cotto will fight similar to how he fought Abdullaev because that's how he adapts to that style.

Abdullaev applies more intense pressure, is faster in my opinion, and throws more. Clottey is much bigger and stronger. I'm not claiming they are exactly the same but their styles are similar how they apply pressure and throw and cover up in that tight defense. Cotto adapts to the style of his opponent and I see him fighting Clottey just like he fought Abdullaev. Cotto is also a lot more experienced, bigger, and stronger than when he fought Abdullaev so that will help him adjust to the bigger stronger Clottey.

if cotto is so adaptable he should've beaten marg... in fact, imho he was on his way to beating marg, but his stamina gave out. this is way styles doesn't always make fights.

Cant agree with you there, after all, Abdullaev was a olympic gold medalist, so his boxing skills must have been superior to that of Clotteys.

What on Earth are you talking about? I said adapting is his style, and it is. I never said Cotto is the god of adapting and as long as he adapts he beats anyone. All I said is he adapts, and that's what he did. Margarito pressured so he moved and boxed. He used his style, and Margarito used his style (pressuring and walking through punches.) That's what made the fight. Cotto got tired and lost. Sure. But that doesn't mean styles didn't make the fight. What are you talking about? Im having an extremely hard time making sense of what your saying. Because he got tired and lost styles don't make fights? If anything Cotto adapting and being pressured to box and move caused him to tire faster and that was because of Margarito's style which again leads to the saying styles make fights. Because Cotto was forced to use that style he tired much faster than if he was walking his opponent down had the opponents style been a mover or runner.
