    Khan vs Barerra-a british apology

I may owe a few apologies here.I have watched the fight again, this time properly/sober,so I am going to attempt to put some perspective on it.

1.The sorry outcome of this fight was an accident that can in no way be attributed to Khan.He definitely looks a much improved fighter, much better than he was before. To all those who question his chin/balls or whatever, that head clash hit him square on his cheekbone and didnt make him flinch, also,I see a lot of people with 2 second gifs of khan taking a punch and wobbling slightly.Shame they werent 5 second gifs as that would have shown that he wasnt the least bit troubled by those punches, well,no more than any other fighter on the planet would have been.

2.Marco Antonio Barerra is an all time great and a true legend of boxing. He was warmly appreciated by the crowd, and I am sure he was also by the people watching on tv.He is,strangely enough,a household name in Britain courtesy of the systematic boxing school he dished out to Britains biggest marquee name of the time,Naseem Hamed, hence the warm applause and appreciation.

3.Dave Parris is a referree who is well respected and someone I have always rated as a good ref,but what the fcuk he was playing at in that fight only he can answer.Even in the last 30 seconds of the first round he was staring intently at the cut on Barerras head. Now Parris has been a ref for many years and there is no way he would have seen many worse cuts than that in all his time in the squared circle.

So,Khan DOES look a much improved fighter, but we can only say that on the basis of four rounds since his KO loss.He has always had the tools, and should have made a much wiser choice of trainer when turning pro.In his defence he was/is very young ,and how wise were we at 18/19 years of age.fair play to him.

What isnt fair play though is the way a great, great fighter like Marco Antonio Barerra gets treated by the people organizing/officiating an event when he decides to take a fight such as this, and grace a boxing ring in our country.Everybody, even Khans fans appreciated him showing up and paid their money, whether they were Barerra fans in this country, and believe me there are many, myself included, and were looking forward to seeing a good test for our country's best prospect for real world title stardom. And for that,as an Englishman,I feel slightly embarrased.Peace.

Khan won he has great skills.

Barrera is past it and doesnt belong at 135.

      Nothing more to it.

Yeah,I know, and what you say is true, but surely we could have done better by Barerra.

          Four things.

          1. Barrera`s age
          2. Khan`s size
          3. Khan`s skill
          4. Barrera`s size

Khan is a sublime fighter BUT let him beat a solid 135lb top 10 fighter then i would be more sold.

The Barrera that beat Hamed would own Khan imo.

I watched it again this afternoon, streamed it at the weekend live and it wasn't the best quality (and was also drunk/stoned) so thought I'd look at it again.
Khan did look much much better than I remembered he was covering up well, throwing really fast punches and was landing cleanly more than usual (yeah i do know its easier when the other guy cant see).
He looks like he has zero power though, his punches were having next to no effect on MAB.
Couldn't agree more on the treatment of Barrera by the officials. No-one at any stage of their career deserves to lose a fight like that, let alone someone like Barrera who stands for everything that is great about the sport. He got a better reception from the Manchester crowd than Khan did coming into the ring!
On another note I dont think he's completely shot yet, he looked ok for the first 2 minutes!

I completely agree with you.I still think that without the cut Barerra would still have offered a much stiffer challenge than ***an and would have been a great learning fight.

                  As Testdead posted..
also, cut or no cut..and I loved Barrera..Khan was running at 90mph and Barrera at 30mph. It would have been much more embarrassing if it would have gone on much longer.

Deffo the cut was one of those things.

Horrible to see a legend go out like that.
