Julio Cesar Chavez, is hands down the greatest Mexican boxer ever, every Mexican should agree on that, besides die hard boxing fans, who know Ricardo Lopez?
He defeated nobody, his undefeated streak is as worthless as Mayweathers undefeated record, both great fighters but not ennough substance to be the greatest ever !!

I'd expect this **** from a damn Rican.....
Ricardo Lopez is greater than any fighter to ever come from PR.....
Read this motnhs Ring Magazine.... It is unanimous... From EVERYONE they interviewed... He kicks the living dog **** out of Calderon....
I've actually heard from good sources that Lopez/Beristain negotiated way too high and killed a fight Carbajal was good to go on. Lopez's record doesn't sniff Chavez and to say beating Taylor 'decisive' would have made the difference is silly. Lopez never sniffed anyone in Taylor's league.
Lopez barely sniffed anyone in the league of Lockridge or LaPorte.
Beristain is a great trainer. But he has this bad habit of asking way too high for his fighters. He almost destroyed JMM's career 4 or 5 years ago.
I like Sanchez, he accomplished alot in very little time and could have done alot more. Still, even thought he isn't as accomplished as Chavez, I still see him as the greatest mexican fighter
Why is this even an argument? Chavez fought nearly every fighter worth a damn from 130-140, and some choice at 47, for years. Lopez had two realistic greats (Carbajal, Mark Johnson) withing 3 and 7 pounds of him and a near great at 12 in Arbachakov as well. I don't fault a fighter for ruling a weight class, but in comparing, it matters and Lopez's record against those named men is 0-0. There were good wins, (Vilamoor, Alvarez though he came in grossly overweight, Sarjaturong), but that's not enough when rating next to Chavez.
