so I dont see much relevance to this ******ed thread...
The point is that NOW people will all admit that Hopkins lost that fight very clearly. Most of the reason why is because Hopkins wasn't a sore loser. He admitted that he lost and then add that to the fact that Jones has lost many times since then. BUT 6 or 7 years ago there were many people who were adamant that Hopkins had beaten Jones in spite of Hopkins admitting that he lost.

Well, this fight Castillo-Mayweather 1 has taken the place of Jones-Hopkins as the fight with the most blind revisionist history surrounding it. Many people will swear up and down that Castillo got robbed when he really didn't. What's worse is that Castillo never admitted that he lost and Mayweather himself has yet to lose. So, people will continue to call it "the worst decision of this generation." When in fact it was actually a good decision.

The Mayweather hatred of 2007-2009 is probably more intense than the Jones hatred of 1998-2003, but they're pretty much on par. The reason why you think this thread is retarted is because you probably weren't watching boxing in the late 90s and just don't know how similar these situations are.

Hopkins was very green then, and i think he admitted he lost. It was close, but Jones just edged it.

The Taylor fighters however, now THOSE were robberies

I call BS. I've been watching boxing since well before then and I don't remember anything like that. Any proof that people were calling the first fight a robbery back in 2002?

I do not remember anyone saying Hopkins won. I do however remember people throwing out a lot of "He would have won if he did..." in realtion to that fight.

You are right about one thing though a lot of people calling any fights robberies have not been fans for that long and really do not know the deal about judging fights. People who have been watching boxing for 5-6 years (closely following the sport) is not a huge % of the population and people that watched 15 years ago would be very slim.

I have been watching boxing all my life but really only the last 12 or so years would I really consider myself to follow the sport with a keen eye.
