    What about Jones-Hopkins?

If Castillo-Mayweather 1 was the worst decision of our generation then what was Jones-Hopkins?

There are a lot of similarities between the two; both were the first time the two hot shot star former Olympians were tested and the more blue collar fighter got really rough with both of them. The difference is that Jones started to wilt in the last few rounds while Mayweather actually fought back and gave at least as good as he got if not better down the stretch.

But most of you people ripping on Mayweather probably weren't even watching boxing in 2002 when Castillo-Mayweather happened much less 1993 when Jones-Hopkins happened.

Well even Bernard admits he lost so aint too much to back a robbery argument.

That fight was very boring I've never actually sat thru the whole thing and watched it.

I am a big Hopkins fan, and Jones beat Hopkins clearly, and was the only person to do so during Hopkins entire career (I don't rate his first fight), but Hopkins really was coming on strong in the latter rounds.

            No.

I'm saying that Castillo deserved the decision against Mayweather about as much as Hopkins deserved the decision against Jones. But my real point is that most of these people don't know jack **** about what they're talking about.

They think that just because Castillo gave Mayweather a good fight that he automatically deserves to win. But we've been down this road plenty of times before. Back when Roy Jones was supposedly unbeatable people would say that Hopkins beat him just because Hopkins gave him a tough fight. They just want to see Mayweather with a loss, just like many people (myself included) wanted to see Roy Jones with a legit loss a few years back.

No.... The Mayweather - Castillo I Fight was as close as a draw as you can score it... Roy-Bernard was a 8 - 4 fight... says Bernard himself.

If you go back and look at the scorecards both fights were scored for the favorite by a 4 point margin. Now, you can say that Castillo-Mayweather 1 was closer and a lot of people on this board might even agree with you. What I'm saying is that's not true. Jones-Hopkins was a good decision as was Castillo-Mayweather 1.

But let's not side step the issue. You're a huge Jones fan right? Do you remember the late 90s and early 2000s when Hopkins fans used to dispute the Jones-Hopkins decision? Hopkins used to admit that he lost, but that didn't matter. People would still dispute the decision. You remember that right?

Well, imagine how much people opinions would have warped if Hopkins had been a sore loser and claimed that he won. There'd have been even more people claiming that Jones really lost that fight. Well, that's what happened with Castillo-Mayweather 1.
