Miguel Cotto defense is too holey to go against a slick counter puncher like Floyd Mayweather Jr. How can Cotto deal with the best technical boxer on the planet today & couldn't even utilize his better skill & beat the one dimensional Antonio Margarito? Cotto is a good puncher but that's all we can really say about him. Mosley gave Cotto a tough time & he isn't half as fast, defensive or accurate as Mayweather. I see Floyd doing Cotto like Ndou/Gatti. Cotto's corner would throw in the towel.
100% right. People on this board tend to lean on the offensive aspect of boxing and totally disregard defensive technique. Cotto is a great boxer with great power.. But NO ONE on the planet has the boxing INSTINCTS of Floyd. Cotto blocks with his face alot and lacks defense. He tried to fight going backwards against Tony and you quickly could pick up his flaws. Boxing to ME is ALL about defense. Its about not getting hit and hitting your opponent. The FANS like when boxers TRADE shots but believe me when I say that NO boxer likes to trade shots if they can avoid it. Floyd goes into the fight clean and leaves the ring clean. Like James Bond (never gets the suit dirty while blowing **** up). Dude looks like he can fight 2 times in one night everytime he boxes. No one is even close..

Is that the best you can up with? Are you kidding? Ali...."the greastest of all time." Ali has proven himself. Mayweather is not even close to Ali's legacy. Mayweather will never be considered a legend unless he comes back and proves himself. Don't be scared, punk.....WHERE U AT MAYWEATHER?!!!

We will never find out the outcome of Mayweather vs. Cotto because its not happening. So don't sit there and try to analyze that Mayweather will beat Cotto or any other boxer that he hasn't fought. Stick with fight night video games or something because thats the only place you'll ever see Floyd fight Cotto. Retired = punkness. No more excuses. Leave the boxing to grown folks boy.

I dont like that **** right there. Im tired of hearing that crap. He was great boxer, yes I admit it. He had light footwork and an freakishly long reach. So of course everyone during that time (brawlers and infighters) were gonna ****ing lose. People want to bring up names and someone says "What about Foreman?"... the motherfuc.ker is a dope. He sits there and takes shots. How the hell was he ever gonna beat Ali? Frazier was a hybrid decent speed and power, and beat him. Then Ali understood how to fight someone like him and beat Frazier. Sonny Liston, a brutally powerful guy but a questionable right ended the night. C'mon, use your heads, no one of the time had the ability to beat Ali. Because all of heavyweights chose to stand there flat footed and trade shots. Now people understand that standing flat footed and trading shots isn't law.

Also, get your own damn opinion. Instead of following the masses before you. Just because your friend/family/co-worker said it doesn't mean you have to follow. Ali said it himself "I figured that if I said it enough, I would convince the world that I really was the greatest. " and you took the bait, hook line and sinker. In my eyes Ali revolutionized the sport. I have respect for him. He isn't the best ever.

I also have a question. What is the difference between Ali and Floyd? You all hate Floyd for talking **** but then you have a special stipulation for Ali? GTFO.

Honestly. Put Floyd's skill and Knowledge in any body frame and he will win. I agree with Malignaggi. Floyd would beat Ray Robinson. Floyd skills are on the level of phenomenon. Honestly, the guy is full of himself but real recognize real. His skill set and knowledge of the game make him unbeatable. If his heart wasn't into it, then I would say else wise but I have never seen Floyd not put his heart into the game. If you want, then give me your negs for this post, I dont care. The truth isn't always accepted. No one believed in Einstein's theories of relativity because it wasn't what the majority believed and he was criticized and laughed at for it.... Well lets just say, its accepted now.

"It's hard to be humble, when you're as great as I am." -Muhammad Ali

so quit hating Floyd for being the same way.

OK, I understand and your right. He weighed the same for the Judah fight that he did the day before at the weigh in. Baldomir was sixteen pounds heavier than Floyd come fight night & De La Hoya weighed 1sixty & Floyd weighed 148. He belongs in 140 at the most. I also feel he could beat everyone at WW with his brain alone. If Boxing is the Sweet Science then Floyd is the professor. Damn near every boxing analyst, commentators and pro boxers has said Cotto doesn't stand a chance against Mayweather Jr.

Marquez went head up with Manny both times to a stand still and now Manny is moving up fighting HEAVIER punchers so why can't JMM? He proved he can hang? Who did Manny beat at higher weight? Oscar
De La Hoya? PLEASE. Manny's fighting Hatton without proving anything at Higher Weights. Marquez KO'd TWO guys that have NEVER been KO'd before? accomplished more at 135 than Pac did? Cheer Leader? Your on Cotto's nuts.
Yo man! Have you read ANYTHING I wrote you?!? or are you mindlessly breezing over it?
Do I need to make you some cliff's notes?

Let me put my point another way, for the sake of EXTREME example:
What if the pound for pound list was a bunch of feather weights and heavy weights? Would that mean Floyd should come out and fight them JUST cause they're ranked P4P?!??

Shouldn't we consider weight difference in our formula amigo?

No one's saying JMM shouldn't be stepping up in weight. The guys is obviously a force to recognize.
But You're not seeing the significance in Juan having his FIRST FIGHT at 135!!!!!!

He's USED TO BEING IN THE 120's!!!!!
IF HE'S GONNA FIGHT AT 143 OR EVEN CLOSE TO WELTER, LET HIM FIGHT OTHER LESSER WARRIORS BEFORE
JUMPING STRAIGHT AT FLOYD!!!!! HE'S GOTTA PROVE THAT HE CAN HANDLE THE WEIGHT.
COTTO'S ALREADY PROVED THAT HE CAN!

If Floyd beats Marquez, you KNOW people will say, it was because
Marquez wasn't used to the weight JUST LIKE THEY DID TO PAVLIK's LOSS TO HOPKINS.

Remember how much Pavlik said an extra 10lbs affected him?
(btw, Let's not get into arguing about how good Hopkins was, my point: factoring in weight is a BIG thing.)

Tell that to Floyd against Oscar, Manny Against Oscar or Mosley against Margarito or even Clottey against Margarito (WITH A BROKEN HAND) Come on man stop lying to yourself. Cotto did not fight Margarito skillfully and if you say he did then your on top of the Cheer Leading Pyramid
                  For Cotto.

                  Again, you're missing my point.
I'm not even saying Cotto will beat Floyd, cause that's debatable.

I'm saying COTTO IS MUCH MORE OF A CHALLENGE THAN MARQUEZ!!!!!!!

That pound for pound idea made you put horse blinders on. You say: "Marquez is #2 pound for pound, that's all that matters" BULL!!!!!!!!!!

Marquez/Pacquiao have a history and rivalry and in reality Marquez is a better technical fighter than Manny, Manny is just a bigger puncher. You guys are trying to clown when we talking about Boxing, you guys made me laugh with the cheer leading photo though but it's not about me it's about FACTS, and the FACTS are IF Marquez/Mayweather happens you know that you will watch that ****, so stop fronting. I would want to see Cotto and Mayweather fight too but Cotto is not an option, so what.

Haven't said anything that wasn't True? "facts"?
                  You're mixing facts & opinion.

I'm not hating on Floyd. To me hating would be making ignorant statments,
saying a high quality boxer doesn't stand a chance JUST because I don't like him.

YOU DON'T SEE COTTO AS A CHALLENGE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
                  who's the one that's hating?

But Like I said, I'm a fan of the WW division, and of coarse I've picked my favorite. But just cause we identify with a fighter
                  doesn't mean they're the best.
They'll prove that AFTER the best fights are made.

Your jumping off to a whole new subject boy. What, did you run out of excuses for your punkass boxer for his retirement. At least, Ali faced all the heavywieghts in his era. He talked **** and backed it up! This is what i've been trying to tell all the simps in this thread! If Mayweather talks that same kind of ****...then you better be damn' well prepared to back the **** up! It takes a lot of balls to say your the best! Now ****in prove yourself! But what did Mayweather do......retire!Ali went out like a soldier....a warrior. He wasn't scared to lose like punkass Mayweather. So the subject of this thread is Mayweather 's retirement. Even his daddy said he's scared. His own dad, dude! Mayweather has not sealed his legacy in boxing. I know it, you know it, and Mayweather's conscience knows it. It's eating away at him. Thats why he's working out "secretly" to make a come back. Does his frail hands feel better all the sudden? What kind of boxer retires in their prime and making millions. A punk! He fights in different wieght divisions and picks the ones he knows he can win easily against. Every dog has his day, Mayweather. Don't be scared. But for right now....he's a retired scared punk! And don't try to impress me with your knowledge of boxing. Its not working. Everyone has access to Wikipedia.
