Nobody can say for sure why he retired, but I really don't think he retired because he was afraid or avoiding the top welter weights. Some say he got bored with boxing, wasn't motivated. Maybe he needed a break from it all to rest. Its been known for a while that his hands are a little frail. I believe i saw Hatton once say that Mayweather wasn't really retired, he was just resting his hands. I think Bob Arum once claimed that Mayweather has long had a bum shoulder from blocking too many shots with his shoulder roll....what the truth really is, nobody will ever know but Mayweather himself.

Floyd would TKO Cotto.. Cotto gets caught every fight and he usually takes the bomb pretty well. Its the well placed innocent little shots that get him shook. I actually think Cotto has a good chin for the bombs.. but the sharp punhes get him the worst. I think Floyd gets him flush in the chin with a small str8 right and wobbles him and flails at him till the ref waves it off.. Would be a great fight tho.. Two of my fav fighters. Floyd is tricky man... He doesn't have overwhelming power but his handspeed is unmatched it generates a good pop IMO. Its just crazy cuz everytie Floyd fights... it looks as if he was training to fight 36 rounds. He is just worlds above the rest.

I think JMM is more relevant at 135 than Pac. Not taking anything away from Pac I just think JMM has built a better rep at that weight class. Beating Juan Diaz and Casamayor just added to a solid record.. AND BY KO! I don't see how JMM is too small for Floyd... He is an inch shorter and has a solid frame.. He also is the same height as Hatton and has more reach than Ricky did (not sayin it would help). Besides Floyd started at feather.. All I know is that the reason why Floyd beat a guy will never be because he is too BIG for him. He doesn't fight BIG and he definately doesn't throw his weight around in there. When he wins it'll be because he is simply on a different level than any opponent. You can't hit the guy and while trying you get countered to death. He trains the hardest (and thats well documented). And he has the best thrown-landed ratio in the business... He's too much
