I'm afraid it really doesn't work like that at all. Just putting on pounds doesn't do a damn thing for you unless it is still capable for your body frame to hold that weight properly.
Marquez is smaller than Mayweather, by quite a bit. One inch in height yes, but four inches in reach is a lot. That's not really the problem though. Marquez moving up one and a half divisions at his age will not work well on his body. Like it or not, he is a small guy. His frame is small otherwise, like other fighters when they reach their thirties he would have had trouble making 126, 130 or even 135. He has never had any trouble making any weight he's ever fought in.
He could still get down to 130 with absolutely no problem whatsoever. Mayweather would struggle to get down to 140 even if he didn't have a lay-off. He's just a bigger framed guy, which is why he's been able to move up so well. He's got longer reach and he's rarely been much shorter than ay of his opponents apart from a few.
Against Marquez he will look and be quite a lot bigger and if you think it won't be a factor you're badly deluded. Wait until the fight.
Anyway, Marquez just doesn't have the speed, reflexes or defense that he used to have. His age, despite still being very good, has caught up to him quite a lot. Five, six, seven years ago he would have never been hit by half of what Diaz was throwing. He certainly wouldn't have been so cleanly anyway and I think that Mayweather realises that. He will be able to hit Marquez easily enough throughout without Marquez having the speed to counter like he used to. Bummer for Marquez, good for Mayweather.
It's a real pity that it has to be at a catchweight. Marquez won't fight well above 140. He won't fight well above 135. He just doesn't have the body for it. He will be that much slower and more lethargic and his reflexes will be just a little more off as well.

Why are you laughing at him? You ain't going to see any of his money so what the **** do you care about it or that he is so 'serious' about it.
What's with Mayweather's supposed 'boxing' fans being so obsessed about his money? Do they actually think they are going to see some of it? Or does it give them some kind of weird sense of pride that he makes more than other fighters. Man, they're the ones that are giving him more of their money than anyone else. You guys should be more pissed than everyone, and yet you like it? You see it as a good talking point and have some weird sense of pride in it?

Explain to us all then why he would be coming out to fight Marquez? Marquez is a half decent payday, but he is not even close to a Mayweather payday, so what the hell are you talking about?
Marquez won't bring him much money and he never said anything about Mayweather at all. The only thing he said is "I want to fight Mayweather because Pac won't fight me" He praised him by saying that he is the real P4P 1 and not Pac. How is that saying anything like "I'm better than Mayweather"?
You're laughing at everyone else thinking they have their minds mixed up when it is actually you who are mixed up. He would be very lucky to get 10 million for Marqeuz, and I seriously doubt that he would get close to that even. If he cares so much about money and people saying they're better than him he would just come out and fight Hatton again.
Hatton is always saying he thinks he is better than Mayweather and that he just made a mistake last time and Hatton would give him more money than anyone else in boxing today, even Oscar. You .....are ......wrong.Comment

And if u didnt just jump on the SSM band wagon u would know Floyd tried to fight him twice..Once at 135 and again at 147. Dont forget get JOTTO got a close decision against Shane past his prime..No matter how u try to spin JOTTO's career there is nothing special about him.Comment
