That's right. The minute you let doubt into your mind you are at a disadvantage.

The sad thing about all this is that a man like Mike Tyson probably gets more respect and less hate around here. He was a great boxer in his prime, but he was also a vile and vicious criminal. Khan is a great role model for young kids, but the guy is constantly derided and criticised for being a boxer who has flaws. It's pathetic.

I was a big fan during the Olympics, cheering him on good style. I had high hopes.

Frank Warren should have taken him down the right path, fighting guys his own weight who might be increasingly competitive. Instead all of us in the U.K had to see him in a string of Adidas adverts and things of that nature, which doesn't endear a fighter to a boxing public that demands such public elevation be earned hard in the ring.

Instead Warren pitted him against a line of comparative dwarfs and then threw him in with Prescott's 90% K.O record.

I've got no ill will towards the man, but I want Barrera to win to be honest. I'm just a little tired of all the hype and little evidence of substance in the professional ranks.

Best of luck to him though.

There is no problem with wanting barrera to win. The people that baffle me are the ones that are craving for him to fail? It's like why???

Sure there are times when he has seemed over confident, but surely in boxing you gotta believe in your ability against any opponent?

So what do you think guys?

Amir definitely gets too much hate.

I think a lot of it is racially motivated unfortunately, allthough most people will deny that and say, its because of the hype, which i dont buy.

Cats hate on him cuz they felt dumb havin believed the hype before he got ktfo. Every fighter gets flamed to hell for losin on here, nothin new. Khan has a chance to make a statement against MAB, but he needs him in near top form to do so. IF MAB puts up a serious fight and Khan can win, he should get everybody's respect.

partly true, but i think there were a lot of people hating on him way before the prescott loss IMO.

Anyways, I don't dislike him personally, but I can see why people would. The level of opponents does annoy me slightly, but tonight he's fighting an ATG, albeit a past his best version, but still, at least this is a step up in level for Khan.
No he never. That's what was REPORTED. He didn't say that at all. I mean if he can say it to a reporter then he'll have no problem saying it on a TV interview; and that has never happened.

What he DID say was that he'd like to maybe have a fight with Pacquiao in the future if he was good enough and ranked high enough by the sanctioning bodies.

To some degree that HAS happened because he's sparred dozens of rounds with Pacquiao full out and Manny respects him tremendously, saying "he's the fastest fighter I've ever faced". Their sessions have also been close too with many observors saying Khan has had the better of Manny on numerous occasions.

Obviously Roach rates him highly enough and at the end of the day Roach is a higher and better authority than the rest of us when it comes to judging someone's abilitiy and talents.

I like Khan, he's got a nice personality, is fairly humble, likeable and confident. He's not brash or ****y (like Hamed) and he's going places. People don't have to like Khan but WHEN he's on top of the world he'll give the one ******** salute to alot of his haters who WILL be forced to eat their words.

The thing is, I don't even SEE or hear the hype. It's all 'he will get sparked out, he has no chin, he will fail"

I hardly hear 'he is going to be champion, he's brilliant"

He has alot of publicity towards his way but most of it is derogatory and anti-Khan.
