Abraham is grossly overrated on NSB!

no doubt that he is partially overrated by some ppl - especially since his win over miranda, it bought him to the attention of alot of people especially in the US. his first win over miranda is when i really took notice of the guy, in that fight he had a broken jaw but he still managed to control the fight and back up miranda, despite being tagged on his broken haw several times in the later rounds.
i dug up some of his earlier fights and he seemed very much like a wrecking ball - he had a big punch and a good chin but not much apart from that, a little bit like a a bigger version of james kirkland.
ovr the years hes polished up alot, hes adopted a winky-esque style. he keeps a very tight guard and is very strong for MW, he can absorb a ridiculous amount of punishment. hes very thickly set and muscular across the back and shoulders, which translates into good power as well he has a monstrous left hook and not a bad right neither.
he is as mentioned very tough but in terms of techniques hes also competent. if he hurts his man he will finish him, if he tags pavlik and pavlik goes down hes best off staying down. hes also a more active fighter than some people think (a bit like clottey), hes not like calzaghe or pacman who constantly work behind the jab.
bottom line is theres only one way of knowing if hes the real deal or not ( and its not on these forums), thats in the ring and right now it looks like kelly and his camp want no paart of 'THE KING'.Comment

AA is actually not overrated, he is what he is.
Tight defense
Arguably one of the best chins in boxing
p4p power
arguably one of the best left hooks in boxing
underrated body puncher
does not waste punches
highly accurate
called out the no 2 middle, called out the champion
has fought 2 or 3 top ten middles
9 or 10 title defenses
What else can the guy do? And he is overrated? Because he is not active? why fix something that is not broken.
He is probably MORE underrated then overrated?
WTF?Comment

Wasnt Abraham getting outboxed pretty handily by Wayne El**** untill the KO ?
I'd like to know what Abraham would be like if he hit someone with those big shots of his and they just laughed, to see what he'd do then.
I think Abraham vs Pavlik comes down to chins personally, and Abraham wins there.
unless he fought andradeComment

What I said was true. I agree with the original post, but his resume is pretty damn good and ****s all over Pavlik's Middleweight title defenses. Keyword here is defenses.
Let's look at the competition for title defenses.
Abraham:
Shannon Taylor (Easy gimmie first defense)
Kofi Juntah (Good contender, who beat Rubio)
Edison Miranda (Pretty good contender and highly regarded at the time)
Sebistian Demers (20-0 prospect. Not bad)
Khoren Gevor (4th ranked Middleweight today and gave him a good fight)
Wayne El**** (Tune up)
Elvin Ayala (Has a draw with Sergio Mora.........)
Raul Marquez (Good veteran who upset prospect Giovanni Lorenzo)
Pavlik's:
-Lockett (Easy ass gimmie mandatory. Probably the worst since Morrade Hakkar)
- Rubio (Perfect comeback opponnet, but in reality was not that good...)
Next title defense.
Kelly Pavlik: Sergio Mora (How he's getting a title shot after a beating at 154 is beyond me...)
Arthur Abraham: Lujan Simon (21-0, but really....no one really knows about him)
So yeah Arthur doesn't have a godly resume, but he's been beating the top middleweights in the world. It's kind of like the competition of Hopkins and Calzaghe's resume, but MW is a lot worse now then it was thenComment

Abraham is tailor made for a high volume puncher who can go to the body. Why is that so hard for people to recognize?
Pavlik will dominate the fight, Abraham will lose every single round and have maybe a 15-20% chance of landing a lucky KO punch.Comment

Sure and Jonathon Banks is the best Cruiserweight....Comment

Personally I do not find it justified to hype AA on behalf of Pavlik the way it has been done by some lately.
AA's wins might look good but still it's over fighters that wouldnt crack the top 20 in other eras. I'm in awe over Abrahams power but I do think there is a pretty straight forward formula for beating him. A formula that cannot be emplyed by the likes of Miranda, Gevor, El**** etc. They simply don't have the tools.
Pavlik has much the better resumée solely based on him twice beating a genuine firstclass fighter. People put to much emphasis on his loss to Hopkins and too little on his win over Taylor IMO.Comment

I still dont see Pavlik beating him, Pavlik blocks punches with his face and the only guy he fought with Defense was a 44 year old Hopkins...we know how that fight went, but other than Hopkins no one had a good defense, taylor kept his left hand too low, miranda was a punchbag and right there to be hit. Abraham is one of the hardest punchers in the sport right now with a good chin and a tight defense. Dead Accurate puncher tooComment
