This fight still isnt likely to happen. Vernon will never fight a southpaw. His and Martinez tuneups are actually just ploys to buy Vernon some more time in waiting for that so called big fight to open up. I just cant see this fight ever coming off. They both still have to win their tuneups, in which we all know and learned is never a given. If both are successful in their tuneups, look for Forrest to vacant for a different course.

boxingscene.com has been advised that an agreement has finally been reached for a junior middleweight showdown between wbc champion vernon forrest and interim champion sergio martinez.

The purse bid scheduled for friday has been cancelled by the wbc. As part of the deal, forrest will be allowed to take an interim bout in the form of a non-title ten round tuneup. Martinez also has the option of taking a tuneup.

Boxingscene was told the fight will happen in july/august. Where the fight will land as far as television is unknown at the moment.
