People shouldn't judge a fighter entirely by his worst fight.
Gomez is actually UNDERRATED. He has 44 wins and 35 KOs with only one loss, and was the universally recognized cruiserweight champion. He's not only defeated but completely outclassed several decent heavyweight opponents: Sam, McCall and Virchis.
This will be Vitali's most difficult opponent since Lewis.

...I think you're right. If you take a closer look you will see that outside of the Diaz fight, Gomez has handily beaten every man he has faced. The Virchis win was very impressive to me. It will be a very very tough fight until the 9th or 10th round. In fact, Gomez may be close to even on the cards when Vitali finally takes over and knocks him out. This is one of the few fights in his career where Vitali is in with a guy who may be able to hang close to him on the cards. The Peter fight may not have told us alot about Vitali's rust. We may find out more when he's in with a real boxer with real skills.
