im not really well versed with whitaker's early career (when he was still @ lightweight) but has he face a fighter with mosley' handspeed? i mean he did well against fighters like ramirez and chavez... but they were not as fast as sugar shane... dont u think mosley's speed somehow nullifies whitaker's lateral movement and superb timing? i mean aside from mosley's speed, pernell has got to deal with sugar's power as well... he KOed steel chinned margarito for crying out loud...
Admittedly, no. Not many people are as fast as Mosley but he has a lot of problems with good jabbers, which neutralizes his speed, Whitaker has one of the best southpaw jabs ever. Timing normally beats speed, not the other way around, unless you're Roy Jones.
A guy that had basically 0 defense and comes right at you..big difference when you are fighting Whitaker. Mosley has always had problems against guys who box him.

Shane Mosley also fights with his head straight up in there air. Pernell Whitaker to me is better than Roberto Duran maybe not based on opposition, but as far as talent goes.
