I think there are only 2 househol names in boxing....

And that is Tyson and Ali....

When you say Tyson... it means boxer Mike Tyson.
When you say Ali, it means boxer Mohammad Ali
And most people around the world are familiar with these names...

They are like Jordan, Jabbar, and Magic Johnson in Basketball.

Dela Hoya, Marciano, Duran, Leonard, Foreman, Jones are not too strong and too popular to be a household name IMO...

Foreman (grill) and De La Hoya are almost certainly household names. I'm sure many would recognize the moniker "Sugar Ray" as associated with boxing as well. Other than that, you may be correct. Here in Japan, the Kameda brothers and Naito Daisuke (by virtue of beating one of them in a scandalous match) are the only household names.

Saying that my ma would know who Kenny Egan is, but anyone who respects boxing knows she really shouldnt. Hes a feckin clown! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Egan

Depends, Latinos know a lot of boxers since they get pretty good press on the spanish channels. They'll talk about them even if it's for a couple seconds everytime they talk about sports & the host of Republica Deportiva is a big fan of boxing so he makes an effort to have boxers on his show.
As a result guys like Cotto, Margarito, Pacquiao, Mayweather, the Marquez bros, Izzy Vazquez, Arce, and others are very well known names.

Not to stray off topic, but how is Ireland right now? I have some new family members that moved over from there to America and they are the nicest people I have ever met in my life. Made me want to go visit sometime.

Everybody knows Tyson and Ali. Like someone else said, it may be more cuz of the grill, but pretty much everybody knows Foreman also. A lotto cats know of Holyfield too. Dependin on how old they are, some non fans or casual ones will know SRL and DLH when I talk to em.

I wouldnt expect the young kids to know those or marciano unless they had a passive interest in boxing.
