Who scored Jones vs Calzaghe for Jones ?

I believe mine was the same, but I can't recall if Jones maybe had another round in there somewhere. Excepting the first round I can scarcely recall the fight, I kind of zoned out (the same happened to me during Pavlik-Taylor II by the middle rounds).Comment

i have to admit, after watching it a 2nd time, the fight wasn't that much of a one-sided fight as i thought....
sure it was a calzaghe win obviously but jones landed more clean punches that i originally thought. the way people describe the fight, they make it sound like a gatti and mayweather type fight but it wasn't. jones landed his share of good punches.
i had jones ahead 57-56 after 6 rounds...and i gave him one of the later rounds....i'm sorry in some of the early rounds, i gave to jones because i thought he landed the cleaner, better shots. i just find it very hard to give credit to calzaghe for alot of that bull**** he does. (slapping gloves and forearms)...the fight wasn't a beating..more jones laying on the ropes..taking a million of calzaghe's crappy ass slappy flurries on his arms and getting outworked. altho he did get cut in either the 7th or the 8th.
but thats just my opinion. i had it 8-4 calzaghe plus the knockdown...but thats probably the best you could have it for jones...4 rounds at most.
to be honest, i think calzaghe's excessive taunting of jones made it look worse than it really was it times...aside from the punch that cut jones in round 7 ot 8 i think, calzaghe just really did not hand out that big of a phyical beating to jones. he threw alot of punches, but i just think alot of that **** landed on gloves and forearms.
i thought tarver and glen johnson's performances were more dominant and impressive than calzaghe's by far.
the fight however told me that jones in his prime, would have knock calzaghe the **** out in early in the fight.Last edited by CaRnAgEViOLaToR; 03-12-2009, 01:13 AM.Comment

I would need a pretty good explantion as to why someone had Jones winning. I have never seen someone even try to say that.
I would really like to see someone explain that, but to come to that conclusion logically about this fight to me is impossible. I would have to question about how objective they are.
I doubt I could agree with them, but dissenting opinion are often fun to read.Comment

I guess you were watching another fight, because in no way shape or form, Rioy won more than 1 round, let alone having him ahead after 3 rounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!1i have to admit, after watching it a 2nd time, the fight wasn't that much of a one-sided fight as i thought....

so you don't even think roy jones COULDVE won round 2? a round where he seemed to land the cleaner punches? sorry dude, i'm in no way saying jones won because only a fool and a biased jones fan would think jones won that fight. i mean he just flat out lost a WIDE decision, no question. im just saying, it wasnt as one sided as i originally thought and i actually think you couldve had jones winning 3 of the first 6 rounds. 3 or 4 rounds is the best you could give him.
or maybe i just really despise calzaghe's style of amateurish slaps to forearms and gloves that i don't give him credit for it at times.
watch the fight again dude..jones was landing his share of clean punches the first 6 rounds of that fight. it wasn't a complete wipeout.Last edited by CaRnAgEViOLaToR; 03-12-2009, 01:24 AM.Comment
