De La Hoya doesn't have to prove anything or fight anybody anymore.
He did what he had to and proved himself a long time ago.
The De La Hoya that fought Mayweather and Pacquiao is in NO way a prime De La Hoya.
You would have an argument if he wouldn't of fought him in his prime but
Tony was just a sparring partner at that time.

      You want the analogy?

      It is simple.....

The anti-PAC cannot accept that Pac winning against Hatton, will make him the 2nd 6x World Champ along with DLH.

By destroying DLH, they would surely destroy PAC.

BTW, who destroyed DLH, isn't it is Pac?

SO --- IF PAC DESTROYED DLH ---

THEREFORE, ANYBODY CAN DESTROY PAC AND HIS ACHIEVEMENTS, BY DESTROYING DLH WITH ANY DIRTY TRICKS AND THAT WILL AFFECT PAC.

That is plain and simple. GOT THAT?

This is a very nice article. It inspires not only the boxers but the PPV viewers as well. Thank you.

What bugs me is the number of boxing correspondents in newspapers who say that Pac is fighting for Hatton's IBO belt - which is not only ridiculous, but seriously damages the public's understanding of boxing. Almost none of the newspapers acknowledge that he's fighting for the Ring and Lineal titles, and relatively few mention that Hatton is the dominant, and almost universally recognised champion at the weight. And almost none of them mention that no one in boxing takes the IBO belt seriously. I hope Pac throws it in the bin if he does win it.

The specialist boxing press is different, of course, but only hardcore fans read it. In terms of making boxing a mainstream sport again, someone has got to educate those idiot newspaper sports correspondents.

knocking out someone with the belt on the line usually is ENOUGH reason...

                  Cliff,

I love this idea for an artilce. Part 1 was excellent and I can't wait to read the rest. I think this part is 100% accurate. Ledwaba was not the best titleholder, but he was solid, and we all know diaz was serviceable at best. I have a feeling that your series is going to show some of our overzealous posters that winning a 'world title' in different weight classes doesn't mean jack ****. However, being a lineal champion has real historic meaning. Although there are some lineal champs who are not as legit (and this discussion will certainly come up), they still mean more than being a titleholder.

                  Part 2 today please?

i think hatton has some good hand speed and pretty toough guy , but all his notable wins are very debatable, like humaneye said.
