i like kessler but im starting to get bored with him now, its been ages since he fought calzaghe and still hasnt even faced a contender.
I know palle is giving him massive trouble but kessler needs to break away an get ****ing fighting some decent opponents before his careers over.

He needs to just up and leave to America...they cant stop him fighting there (well they would have more difficulty) just up and leave like Sonny Bill Williams did from Australian football team the Bulldogs...only cost him 750k to get out of his contract and he was probably making 600k a year plus all his sponsorship deals...**** Kess should do the same...they just cant stop him.
Hope this doesint end up like the David Tua situation...really sad for Tua hes fighting now at like 37-38? for peanuts!...least Kess has made his cash I will give him that.

Haha, well sort of. Kessler visited the US in person last year to try and secure a fight with 6 good opponents. I forgot the exact names, but they were all pretty much top class. It didn't work out for him and no one took him up on the offer.

His problem is that he is under obligation to fulfil the contract with Palle, and he's not happy because Palle isnt doing what's best for his career. Now, Kessler is starting to lose respect, as you can see from the amount of people around here who call him a bum who never fights anyone, or those who recognize the fact that he is talented but are disappointed with him.

Unfortunately, this situation seems to be totally beyond his control, and it's not that he doesn't want the big fights, he just can't get them. Palle seems to want only to protect is cash cow and avoid making any risky fights. Nobody wants the big fights more than Kessler himself, and it's a damn shame because he is clearly a talented fighter, only he hasn't yet had a good chance to prove it.

Having said that, the people he called out were:

Hopkins, but he's not a Super Middleweight, and Kessler isn't a big enough name yet for Hopkins to have any reason to fight him, especially as Kessler wanted it to be at catchweight.

Calzaghe, but if he hadn't retired, everyone wanted Calzaghe to fight Dawson, not to rematch Kessler, so calling him out was pointless.

Dawson, but he wanted to fight Dawson at catchweight, not at Light Heavyweight, and why would Dawson agree to those terms?

Winky Wright - a Middleweight, and a much bigger name than Kessler - why would Wright move up in weight to fight someone who is not yet a big name or a dominant champion?

Taylor - the only Super Middleweight that he called out. But Taylor isn't a belt holder yet, doesn't feel ready for Kessler yet, and was already a mandatory for Froch's belt.

Pavlik - another Middleweight - and one who has already shown that he can't cut it at higher weights. Why would he move up above his peak weight to fight someone who isn't yet a big name?

But he didn't call out any of the current belt holders in his own division, such as Bute, or Froch; and with the exception of Taylor, he didn't call out any of the leading contenders, such as Greene or Bika.

So I think it was a bull**** calling out exercise, calling out completely the wrong people.

I do appreciate he's got contractual problems that are holding him back, but I'm still really unimpressed by the people he chose to call out.

The fact that Sturm-Sato is selling so well just proves Germans would sell out the arena for Sturm or Erdei taking on a blind, 45-year-old with one arm. Sato is a 14-0 unknown who has fought no-one to "earn" his title shot (like Pittman, Alcoba). Sato may give Sturm a fight, but it doesn't really matter to the Germans paying for this bull****

Nicely put. I feel the same. Only problem I see is that Calzaghe talked him up so much for there fight that people are disappointed based on how Calzaghe hyped him out to be. They expect more.....

Don't get me wrong I like Kessler and I want him to win most EVERY fight he's in. I just think Calzaghe hyped him beyond what he really is at this point. Calzaghe is good that............................

Anyway lets hope for better fights in his future. The man still has time. He should just walk away and head on over to the US! If he did that right now, by the end of the year he would be as popular as Pavlik. Just my thought........

I really want a Kessler VS Abraham fight with the winner taking on the winner of a Pavlik VS Froch..... Wishful thinking on my part, I know!

Sturm vs Soto IS NOT BOOMING.
They sold tickets, but every boxing fan disrepects Sturm for that move.
A lot of people are writing bad thing in his guestbook and there already have been some letters to Universum promotion.

Kessler is chucking his career down the pan at the moment. He NEEDS to step it up.

Firstly, get a new promoter !

Secondly, get a fight the public WANT. Hopkins / Froch / Taylor / Abrahams

God, the strengh of opponants from 160-175 is wonderful.

                  STEP IT UP!

I think Kessler has the skills, but he's in danger of being a wasted talent.
