floyds..cause he was able so move and counter..winky just stood there with a high guard..floyd's defense is agile and allows him to place pinpoint counter shots

PBF. Winky's is damn good, and at that he just blocks. PBF dodges and counters like crazy.

Mayweather, but they are two completely different forms of defense. Wright's is perhaps somewhat more surprising in that he is able to come forward continuously yet defend so completely simply by covering up right in front of the opponent, although at the cost of not being able to commit fully to shots. Very basic, but he has perhaps mastered it like no other fighter.

Very true. PBF has a very east-coast fighter type of defense: rolling/turning with punches and countering with hooks and uppercuts. He uses it very effectively and its really cool to watch.

Winky, on the other hand, just covers up. The guys forearms are ridiculously long which allows him to block his whole body when he does that. It's not nearly as pretty as PBF's defense and it can also give him the appearance that he is getting hit a little bit. I expect that style to be VERY useful against Paul Williams, who can throw lots of punches from long range.

Mayweather, but their styles of defense are much different. Winky puts up his guard, which is damn near impenetrable, and blocks the shots coming for the most part. Floyd uses the shoulder style of defense and counters the **** out of you. I mainly say Floyd because the amount of skill, reflexes and timing it takes to use that defense as well as he does is astonishing. You won't find anyone doing that better than him.

Mayweather's defense is better. Winky's defense is simple but this is about who gets hit more and I say Winky does

Defense and Counter Punching go hand in hand and Mayweather > Winky at that

In his prime, Wright just did not get hit. I mean, Mosley threw 18 consecutive shots at him, and he blocked every single one in the rematch during the 9th round I believe? 8th or 9th round, about 15 seconds in... it was sick.

It has diminished a lot starting with the Soliman fight.

I did a poll like this and voted Wright back when I started posting here, and that was when I was a huge *****...

I think Wright ended up narrowly edging the poll, but I can't remember for sure.

As said above, they are two completely different types of defense, and are hard to compare. Floyd's is probably better, because he doesn't get touched, but if it ever breaks down, he's in trouble (Corley and Judah fights), because he has nothing at all to soften the blow. If Wright misses a block, it's a partial block that he can take.

I'll tell you something, if Mayweather is still fighting past his prime, his defense is going to come unglued and he is going to end up getting beaten up or knocked out in one of his fights, because he won't know how to adjust without his flawless defense.

                    Mayweather.

Winky's defense is boring and possibly overrated to me. He rarely gets hit flush, but who wants to watch him block 500 punches per fight with his forearms?

I also think Floyd's is more effective because he makes people miss completely, which everyone knows takes a lot out of the other fighter.
