    Mike McCallum. ATG?

Mike McCallum was a complete fighter who had a very good resume: Julian Jackson, Don Curry, Herol Graham, Steve Collins, Michael Watson. Only two of his 5 losses came during his prime. One to Kalambay, which was avenged and a controversial MD to James Toney.

Do you rank McCallum as an ATG and if so, where?

Yeah, the guy is an ATG. He might have been greater if the fab four didnt freeze him out like *******.

absolutely he was an ATG. arguably the best fighter ever at 154lbs, and had an outstanding run at Middleweight too. even picked up a light heavyweight title in his late 30s and had some pretty good wins.

watching some of his fights, he was really something. technically sound, and his defense was fantastic other than him getting lazy and getting smacked with right hands occasionally.

wins over Ayub Kalule, Mccrory, Donald Curry, Julian Jackson, Steve Collins, Herol Graham, Sumbu Kalambay, Jeff Harding and Michael Watson are undeniable. not to mention his fights with Toney(more particularly the 1st one) were some of the most skilled battles you will ever see. very difficult fights to score.

Im almost done with my highlight of him.

Yeah I love watching McCallum fight. Great technician in the ring, good power, hard to hit.

The guy is one of the most under rated fighters of all time, he beat watson, graham, jackson and got a draw with a prime james toney also went up to lightheavyweight and got a title. He is still very bitter that hagler, learnard, duran and hearns all avoided him. If you go on you tube there is an interview were he says hagler came over to shake his hand and tel him how much he respects him at a awards ceromny a few years ago, mccallum turned hagler away and said if you respected me you would of fought me and give me the chance to feed my family. All he wanted was his chance to face the best of the best and he never really got it. The guy was a true all time great

            Hall of Fame? Definitely

            Great fighter? You Betcha

ATG? Err...I don't know. I wouldn't consider him a top 50 fighter although his skills were arguably top 25.

Why was the Hagler fight never made then? I find it hard to believe that Hagler ducked a fighter!

Yeah...McCallum hit his stride during the tail end of Hagler's run. I'd say it was more like a Hopkins-Dawson situation--although that fight may come off.
