hopefully as the sport grows the fighters would get paid more but right now alot of them are being taken advantage of

but that's what promoters do best exploit fighters

That's exactly what i said in my last post, the sport is only what 15 years young?

That's exactly how boxing it was when it first started.

From a fans perspective, what the hell should you care who gets paid more? If these mma artist wanna get in the cage, and put on an entertaining scrap for peanuts, who am i to complain? I'd prefer watch to mma artist put it all on the line and give an entertaining scrap for $50k each, rather than watch Floyd/Oscar put on a sparring session for $20-30mil a peice.

The truth is MMA fighters for the most part will take what they can get, they don't mind getting ****d by the UFC because they are able to get some sort of celebrity with fighting on TV. I don't think all the MMA orgs are ripping fighters off though, Affliction is paying very well.

They also receive an annual salary on top of whatever money they make on a per fight basis.

Doesn't sound to shabby to me either especially if you are an ultimate fighter winner you get a 6 figure salary on top of whatever purses you might get.

Not true bud, the six figure contract is your guaranteed purses for the next 3 years.

And please show me where the fighters make an annual salary on top of purses, I've never heard that before so some sources would be nice.

This guys is probably the smartest on here, havent you noticed its the reason why mma has been taking over boxing little by little they actually put on good fights not just one good fight or on supposed good fight there fight cards usually have more than one exciting fights, and seriously how much they make is still more than most jobs and its what they love doing, the bottom line is this whole thread makes boxers look bad because far too often we here them dispute about who they'll fight and for how much i understand you gotta get paid but when your talking about fighters who try to negotiate purses that are in the millions because they feel they deserve more it makes them look ridicuolous, im not saying they shouldnt get paid as much as they do know all im saying is negotiating who gets a 10 percent difference in a multi million dollar fight makes these fighters look ungrateful and greedy and it gives them the oppurtunity to dodge people thats why in mma not alot of people dodge each other majority of them are willing to take on all challengers im a boxing fan and yes we have seen a past couple of years boom for some fights, but come on lets stop the dodging i think they should get ride of all the santioning bodies like wbc, wbo, ibf, wba this is the reason why most fighters choose not too fight the best fighters because in reality they only have to face there mandatory challengers to there belt , so they stay there and make there money until they have a big enough name or enough money offered to them to take a risk at fighting a bigger name. im not gonna name any names because i dont wanna hurt any of the fans feelings and there are alot of boxers that are guilty of this and there are also alot who are victims of this because they constantly ask for hard fights and never get them because the other fighter doesnt see the worth risking there record or belt or status for the little money value( oh and that little money value to them are in the millions) so yes as a boxing fan i have too be honest the way the whole boxing system is setup allows these boxers to do what they want and thats why i think in general mma figthers have more balls than boxers do but i still love watching boxing, and so far this year is good i hope it stays that way

those are only the official payouts reported to the athletic commission, the big mma fighters get private locker room bonuses as well as PPV cuts. For example lesnar and couture both made 3+ million for their fights.

They still don't come close to the biggest boxing names of course

I seriously don't see the point in comparing the two, they are two different sports... and there is room for both sports.
