thinking about his future and deciding whats best for him and his family...the guys face was swollen and he had nothing else to offer..ive seen threads where people call this warrior a quiter..cotto is skilled talented and his heart cant be questioned..exspecially by someone sitting on the couch eating chips...he lived to fight another day..and he's back..cotto and coward shouldnt be said in the same sentenceComment

The way I feel about it is that if Cotto wanted to quit he would have stayed down on one knee after Marg hit him with that first volley of punches. If he wanted to stop he wouldn't have gotten up. He tried to go on but he had nothing left to give. Cotto didn't ask the ref to stop it. He didn't really do anything except for acknowledge his corner jumping up on the ring with the white towel. He knew it was over, they were going to stop it anyway, what's the point in bashing him? If that makes you feel better at the end of the day then you're a sad mother****er.
Most, from what I've seen, are still supportive of his decision.
Saying he quit isn't bashing, just telling it like they seen it.
The ones calling him "coward" and names of the like, now thats bashing.Comment

I tend to think most aren't bashing him, merely pointing out that in their view, yes he did quit, for whatever reason.

How can you call a boxer a quitter if his corner throws the towel in?
Looking back, it was the best decision, unlike the decision Marga-cheato and Capa-cheato did before loading there gloves before the Mosley fight!Comment

Erik Morales is my all time favorite fighter and I have no problems saying he quit against Pacquiao in the third fight.
Now, is that criticism, or just seeing things for the way they are?
Its your opinion that I'm somehow criticizing Cotto because you're overly sensitive to him as a fan.
I can see your ass is chapped about it because you have to bring up Margaritos fight with Mosley.
Flame on, it doesn't bother me, because it factually happened.
Now deal with it like a man and accept reality.Comment

I agree that it can be very annoying reading some of the criticism boxers get from fans. But the thing is that boxing is just entertainment to a lot of people. They don't see it any differently than watching a movie or playing a video game. I mean, we've all been able to laugh or crack jokes during a vicious fight... and it's because we're not in there getting beat up. It's so easy to call someone else a quitter.
The thing I wish more people would realize is that boxing is not like a lot of other sports (maybe football is comparable because of the punishment). If a NBA team or MLB team lays down, then I think it's fair for fans to go crazy with the criticism. But in boxing, we're talking about getting your face and body bashed in. Let's see how many times A-Rod would get beaned in the head with a 100-mile fastball before he quits.
You would think this only applies to casual fans, but even hardcore fans aren't satisfied unless they witness a KO.
There's always gonna be *******s with loud-mouthed opinions. (Ha ha, I'm just one of them.) And there's gonna be dumbasses. (I mean, who else starts talking about money when the thread is about heart?)
Eluding punishment through skills and reflexes can be fun to watch. (The running... not so much.) Watching a fighter go balls-to-the-wall and walk through fire can be really fun, yet there will always be people who prefer one over the other. All our views are freaking biased, man. We give fighters passes whenever we feel like it.Comment
