I'd probably cry if Bhop died. I was pretty sad about forrest and shocked over Arguello. For some reason, I felt bad for Gatti, but never really had that emotional connection. I don't really either for Forrest, but I feel sad about his death more then I did Gatti's.
When Hopkins dies I'm going to suffer an emotional breakdown. I'm serious.
And I'm with you on the Arguello/Gatti/Forrest situation.
With Arguello, I felt genuinely saddened. He was just such a humble human being (let alone a great boxer), who had seen his fair share of pain in his lifetime.
Gatti, I felt bad for his family but I was never a fan and I had no connection with him whatsoever whether it be through a fan's view, or otherwise.
Forrest has hit me pretty hard though. I was actually a real fan of his. I remember having discussions here in NSB with various Forrest fans about the way his career could've went had it not been for injuries and a man named Mayorga.
Aside from the boxing **** though ; he was a genuinely good person. In a world full of users and scummy athletes it was nice to see a guy who genuinely cared about those who wee less fortunate than himself. His work with the mentally challenged really endeared him to me. (Waits for someone to crack a joke about me being ******ed.)
Ontop of all that, it was the murder coupled with the cowardly way the man that killed him pulled if off.
First he runs from Vernon like a little girl and disappears.
Then when Vernon gives up the chase and starts heading back to his Godson in the car, the dude suddenly comes out of the shadows and shoots him 7 or 8 times in the back as he's walking to his car?
Not sure...people i would get very upset about...n maybe shed 1 tear watching a tribute video or something would be ...Ali....Hatton...Khan...Pacquiao...n a few others...but them particularly...
I loved Gatti and was a huge fan. Loved watching him fight, loved what he gave to the sport. I didn't cry when he passed, but I was suprisingly saddened.
