Joe Calzaghe has dismissed claims that he is to come out of retirement for a rematch with American Bernard Hopkins.
Golden Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer said negotiations had begun for the unbeaten Welshman to fight the great Hopkins in Cardiff.
But Calzaghe, who quit boxing in February, said: "I don't know if anyone remembers, but I have retired.
"I am happy with my decision to retire and couldn't consider fighting Bernard as I don't have the motivation."
Record-breaking super-middleweight king Calzaghe beat Hopkins on a split decision in April 2008 in Las Vegas at light-heavyweight crown to become a two-weight world champion.
The 36-year-old has always insisted he "would not" do rematches and after defeating Roy Jones Jnr at New York's Madison Square Garden in November 2008, he retired because he had "no other goals to go for."
But Schaefer's insistence that his team, who represent 44-year-old one-time middleweight champion Hopkins, had opened discussions with the Calzaghe camp gave the impression that the stylish southpaw from Newbridge maybe reconsidering his move.
But Calzaghe wrote in his South Wales Argus column: "Hopkins has said we have unfinished business and that I should give him a rematch.
"Golden Boy promoter Richard Schaefer says that talks are ongoing in regard to this fight happening.
"I have beaten Bernard Hopkins once, it wasn't a great fight and styles make fights and he came to hold and to spoil, rather than to execute as his nickname suggests."
Calzaghe, who put on his first 'Calzaghe promotion' in Merthyr Tydfil last week, says he is enjoying life outside the ring and does not have the hunger to fight Hopkins again.
"Motivation is a key thing for me," Calzaghe continued.
"Throughout my career I gave some of my worst displays against the worst fighters, guys that you'd never heard of and who I simply didn't want to be in the ring with.
"When you are thinking like that it's dangerous, because you have to be 100% focused on your opponent and a few times in my career, I wasn't right, wasn't focused enough.
"I can't stop people speculating and I can't stop people talking about whether or not I will fight again.
"But I've said it once and I am happy to do so again, don't bet on a Joe Calzaghe comeback."
