Barrera Not Worried About Khan's Physical Advantages

I meant badly managed from the point of view of his long term career. From the point of view of making sure he would fulfil his long term potential, putting him on PPV so early was the ******est thing they could possibly have done. From that point of view, putting him in fight after fight that couldn't possibly test him, and that he couldn't possibly learn from was ******. From that point of view, giving him **** trainers and not making sure he learnt the fundamentals of professional boxing was incredibly ******.
Warren knows how to market fighters, and milk them short term, and make them money quickly. But he doesn't know how to bring them on properly so that they can fulfil their long term potential as fighters.
Holyfield faced more competition in his first five fights than Khan did in his first 20. And he learnt the fundamentals from the word go. He had to wait much longer for the big paydays, but he had huge paydays in the end, and lots of them. That's the correct way to bring on a fighter.Last edited by Dave Rado; 03-08-2009, 03:11 PM.Comment

We'll see next week ...Khan obviously has potential, he's an olympian (though of course that is no guarantee to pro success) and fighters can and do adjust, i think though that if put under serious pressure from Barrera the little things that Roach has implemented in Khan in such a short space of time will count for nothing, i think the faults will re-emerge and he will revert to the Khan we have become used to, Khan has been boxing in the same style more or less for at least 8 years so roach will be great for him but it will take time
But if he does get past Barrera, I agree it will take a lot more time before he's ready for world class Lightweights like Marquez. If he gets past Barrera, it will be because Barrera is a very small Lightweight, and past his prime.Comment

Yes, but having seen clips of Barrera training, and interviews with him, he seems to have regained his passion for the sport and his determination to get back to the top of the game. Khans just unfortunate that he will be on the recieving end of it..I want Barrera to win but at this stage he just doesn't have what it takes.
People keep bringing up that he had a close fight with Marquez and went the distance with Pacquiao only two years ago but if they had actually watched his two recent fights at lightweight they would see that he is even more past it, His movement looked sluggish, his handspeed is slower and he has no pop on his punches anymore.
Khan at this stage is too big and too fast for Barrera.
He should win a clear decision.Comment

So Khan deserves all the more kudos if he does manage to win (but without blowing it out of proportion). I hope you'll give him props if he manages it.Comment

Yea I will definitely give him credit for the win, because it will be his most impressive to date, and hes got to put on a great performance to get past Barrera, past it or not.Comment

ill give khan the credit he deserves if he beats Barrera coz he has so far been massivley overrated and has been exposed by a nobody and almost knocked out by a over the hill Gomez and a non punching Limond, I also think Barrera looked past it his last to fights coz the opponents failed to motivate him, for this though he is motivated and has a goal beyond the fight with Khan, i think your gona be in for a shock when we see just how world class Barrera still is, so yeah if he wins ill give Khan his credit and except i was wrong, dont think illl have to though.
