He gets active when the fighter he's fighting is getting on the defensive. If you noticed in the Margarito fight he was behind his shell and countering Margarito throughout the entire night, but he wasn't bringing the fight to Tony. Cotto in the same situation has head movement, can get in and out and select his shots. Clottey's going to have to bring the fight to Cotto if he expects to win, but it's not as if Clottey is gonna walk in there and rush Cotto and KO him. Clottey's best shot is to go to the body and trap Cotto on the ropes, but i don't see him doing that.

Plus, another factor is Clottey's inactivity. It will have been 10 months since his last fight. Getting down to 147 can't be easy for him normally, and after all this inactivity it'll be even harder. He'll have SOME weight issues, he has to, and couple that with ring rust and it's a factor.Comment

I agree. Counterpunchers don't beat Cotto, he's too accurate. And with Clottey's style, he doesn't sustain the kind of pressure that gives Cotto problems.

The same article seems to confirm that Victor Ortiz will be in Fight Night Round 4. Good to see EA is pursuing next generation potential stars. Hopefully they can get Juan Manuel Lopez as well...Comment

Of course Cotto has more body/head movement, he's the more complete boxer but inactivity and Margarito don't go in the same sentence bro, that's what I was trying to say. Clottey's style is like this though, he covers and tries to counter, he doesn't engage as much as I would like him to but when he does he explodes on you. I'm sure he will tweak his style much to Cotto's and he will land on him, much like he did against a slick boxer like Judah (I know Judah...meh...) but still. And as far as the body goes, like you said Clottey's not a boxer who simply just works the body but he will mix up his punches from head to gut, I don't know bro I really see Clottey taking this one. I just hope he doesn't ***** out like he did with that boo-boo on his hand like he did against an also injured Margarito.
He said "he goes into a shell and gets inactive"...Marg don't go into a shell nor is he ever inactive.Comment

Yea cause Cotto's gonna sit there to be countered all night like your boy was LOL.
Cotto IMO is going to be too active for Clottey's style. He isn't necessarily a pressure fighter but relies a lot on his defense which may not work to his favor against a fighter who's going to be timing Clottey's every move. Clottey's output has to increase heavily if he expects to beat Cotto. You're not going to beat Cotto with one punch.

I've never seen Clottey in a situation where he has to pick up the pace. He's always been a pretty straight forward, what you see is what you get type fighter, but he's good! Cotto though IMO is just a step above him overall. Cotto's faced a lot of adversity and considering Cotto's already fought most of the tops in the division, he's not going to be a walk in the park for Clottey by any means, but the same can be said about Cotto.
Cotto's jab, body attack, and overall movement around the ring is going to either make Clottey get on the offensive and try to trade with Cotto (which may not be a smart thing for either guy) or he's going to be taking a lot of shots on or through his guard if he gets on the defensive.
It's a great fight, but Cotto IMO has the edge and I believe he'll win.Comment
