Ricky Hatton feels that UK lightweight star Amir Khan could be getting rushed into big fights because of the big bucks that will result from pay-per-view. Khan faces former three-division champion Marco Antonio Barrera on March 14 at the MEN Arena in Manchester. It marks the third time that Khan will appear on UK-based pay-per-view television. The first time, last September, he was knocked out in 54 seconds by Colombian puncher Breidis Prescott. [details]
Rearrange that headline to "Khan is Not Beyond Barrera Beating."
khan is odds on favourite wi paddy power and ladbrokes, god knows why, nkhan may have roach as a trainer but his chin will still be terrible plus he aint too good at taking boddy shots, khan will make the habbitual mistake of attempting to rush his opponent and out work them, he has never actualy knocked out anyone, he will get caught coming in and Barrera is very far from over and if you wana put a bet on bet on him been lightweight world champion and 1st mexican four weight champion by the end of the year, this will be khan 3rd and final ppv on sky, unless theres enough idiots prepaired to pay too see fight fans or watch him knocked out every time he steps up,think jennings v cotto for this fight, way out of his depth.
I see no way of Khan winning this. He was badly hurt to the body against Michael Gomez so whats it going to be like going in with Barrera?? How is he going to go through the fight without taking some big punches on that glass chin?? Barrera is obviously not as good as he was, but he'll still have way too much for Khan in my opinion.
Hatton is 100% right about Khan being moved onto PPV far too quickly. Warren's plans must be in tatters after he was KO'd within a minute by an unknown fighter in his first PPV headline contest. He now has to fight big names or nobody will bother to pay to watch his fights.
Warren must be banking on Barrera being past it. If Khan has any chance of winning then he'll have to in to the fight with the mindset of not looking for a KO and fighting from distance. If he goes storming in (as usual) he'll be gone within 3 rounds.
I cannot understand why people think Khan is the favourite lol.
1) Based on the posts on here, he isn't.
2) Barrera is not shot, but he is way past his prime.
3) Barrera is not a natural Lightweight, whereas Khan is a very big Lightweight.
4) Khan has improved massively under Roach, especially his defence, and as I have pointed out repeatedly, chins can improve (e.g. Ali).
5) Khan has truly exceptional handspeed and an excellent jab (which he rarely used properly pre-Roach but does use properly now); and if he sticks to the game plan and boxes from the outside for the whole fight, then anyone who doesn't give him a chance is either ignorant or delusional, IMO.

Yeah dude not saying people are saying Khan can win, but there many out there who do feel Khan is going to dominate Barrera.
I agree, he has imporved, but people make it sound like this is Tyson v McBride.
Sure, Barrera is passed it, but he is still a strong fighter, and would easily hold his own against the best.
Khan is way to inexperienced, and 1 fight does not say enough for us to comment on his defence imo.

I certainly agree that it's a very tough fight for Khan and that he would have to be at his absolute best to win - and would have to stick to the game plan throughout the fight - but I think he will be. And I have seen way more posts on here saying it'll be easy for Barrera than posts saying it'll be easy for Khan. And both are wrong.

I favor Barrera because of the 12 round distance.
Every measurable physical advantage clearly goes to Khan in this fight but every intangible advantage goes to Barrera.
I expect Khan to dominate the 1st half of the fight as he sticks to his gameplan and Barrera sizes him up. I just don't think Khan will be able to knock him out and I feel like Barrera will step on the gas when he sense Khan is tiring.
Khan has only been the 12 round distance once against a guy who offered no pressure and fought only to survive. He is going to have to expand energy to get to a clever fighter like Barrera.
When it comes down to it and the fight gets late Barrera will be the one who is able to focus and dig down deep. As bad as Khan's chin is early in the fight I doubt it will take anything more than 2-3 decent sharp punches to put him down and out in the championship rounds.
