Yeah. He beat Hopkins but it wasn't an ass whoopin by any means. He's just bitter because Hopkins is still a top level fighter where as Roy has slipped almost to the point of being completely shot.

that's crazy talk roy jones. it was a semi-boring fight. Hopkins towards the end started landing his right hand repeatedly on Jones. At the end though Jones won fair and square on points, mainly because he was the more active puncher and at that time the slightly better fighter.

Not even close to an ass whooping. Hopkins has never received an ass whooping or even a beating in his entire career.

His win over Hopkins was far from an ass whipping.

It was simply a tactical bout where neither fighter did much, Jones just did a tad more .

Yep, Hops had trouble landing due to Roys speed and so he was missing a lot. But he won a few rounds. It was 8-4 officially I believe. He won rounds when Roy backed up on the ropes, which was interesting seeing that Roy had that same vulnerbility in Tarver I that many years later.


If they fought today, Hops KOs him no doubt.

Thats the ironic part, Jones has been KTFO twice and has taken more punches than Hopkins ever has.

I wouldn't take it too serious. I'm guessing he's saying it in hopes of getting a Hopkins rematch. He might now take it because it would be his only option for a big payday since the idea of a rematch might actually be sellable to the public.

Hopkins asked for a rematch over and over again, and Roy's defense is that Hopkins really doesn't want to fight. That's just weak on Roy's part.

#1 Refused Toney a rematch despite Toney chasing him for years.
#2 Refused to unify LHW with DM
#3 Refused to fight Nigel Benn despite Benn offering to give Roy Jones his entire purse!

#4 Refused to fight Hopkins on even terms...

Now that Bhops is on top, he's running his mouth... well he's always been doing so... Roy preferred to be a so called business man than a fighter sadly things didn't work out the way he wanted, he had his chance so he shut up now and retire.
