Klitschko's Size Should Overcome Gomez, Says Atlas

Recently, trainer and ESPN personality Teddy Atlas took a look at the March 21 bout between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and mandatory contender Juan Carlos Gomez. The fight takes place at Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle in Stuttgart, Germany and ESPN will televise the fight. Atlas doesn't see the fight, based on styles, playing out to be a heavyweight classic. I saw Gomez on TV yesterday talkin about fighting Vitali.......he said Vitali was standin' his way to get the big money, so he said he has to get rid of Vitali to make some REAL money........he's supposed to pocket 1 million euros for this fight......dude sounded like he is so sure he'll win but he didn't look like he was in shape.....really sloppy! Vitali is not my favorite Klitch but he should take this.......

sloppy huh? that damn gomez!! me being cuban im tired of these cuban heavyweights getting to fight as a pro and not training the way they use to and the f**king way we were taught. i like brother k in this one anyway but i was counting on an all out effort from gomez. oh well

Vitali should win but 2 things to consider.1)vitali has fought 2 southpaws(Byrd & corey sanders)sanders was out of shape & vitali was very leery about getting hit by the big left.gomez don't hit as hard but he has great boxing skill & deceptive speed.can he get out of the way of the constant lefts in his face?(2)vitali has a few distractions outside the ring.he's talked about fighting haye & arreola & filed a suit against wbc about his NEXT mandatory with maskaev.doesn't he have to beat gomez first? He is totally looking past gomez & gomez won't stand in front of him like peter did.this has the makings of an upset,gomez does fight out of Germany so he Is popular as well.vitali should win but phil Collins once sang"I can feel it coming in the air tonight".an upset is very possible.

I haven't seen footage of him recently, but he's apparently been exhausted because he's training so hard. I'll be very disappointed if he's not training as hard as he possibly can for this. From what I've read he's training hard.

you know as well as I do just because you are in shape physically doesn't mean you mentally prepared.I think vitali should win but there is the chance of an upset.

When I saw a pic from the press conference announcing the fight, I noticed that Gomez looked considerably heavier than Vitali. That can't be a good sign considering that JCG used to be the 190 lb champion.

Vitali should win this.. Very surprising that he picked Klitschko to win, he usually picks against Wlad and Vitali.
