who cares what nike thinks, they are a corporation and pacman is just an endorser of their product.

Do you know WHY Nike loves Pacman? It's because Nike makes all their products in sweatshops in Pacman's home country, paying children slave wages and working them 12-14 hours a day in overstuffed/crowded run down hovels with no lavatories.

Thus to improve its image in that global/asian community Nike thought it best to hire Pacman as their representative of boxing. This is nothing more than corporate politics for Nike to retain a golden image in the asian countries which it takes advantage of.
