    Scorecard for Barrera/Marquez

I decided to watch this fight again because there has been a lot of talk about Marquez accomplishments and best win. I have always thought Barerra won the fight but i had no problem with Marquez getting decision because there was so many close rounds. Still i thought Barrera's jab and left hook were vintage Barrera and he controlled the fight with them. he beat marquez to the punch most of the night and everytime marquez landed a nice shot, barrera always countered with a good shot of his own. he just controlled the pace of the fight! the biggest complaint of the fight was what the hell was Nady ****in doing when he didnt score the KD in the 7th??? that was a beautiful right hand by barrera that knocked marquez down!!!! it went from being a 9-9 rd to a 10-8 rd because of the bull**** 1pt deduction aginst barrera. i had the fight 4 rounds to 2 for barrera up to that point. but because of what happened it turned the fight even after 7. if the ref had done his job my final scorecard woould have been 115-112 Barrera. But since you have to follow the deduction and lack of KD counted then my final scorecard was barrera 114-113. what were your scorecards for that fight??? and was this fight really Marquez best win of his career??

I really can't remember what my score was as I havn't seen the fight since I watched it live, but I know I thought Barrera won. But after he landed that punch while Marquez was down it pissed me off and I didn't care that he lost the decision.

Oh this thread. I've been very vocal for this fight and how anyone who thinks Barrera won and anywhere it was close, is an idiot.

My card and this is what it should be. Maybe round 1 could be scored for Barrera, but anything after round 6 scored for Barrera is VERY stretching. HBO's call on this is the worst I've heard bar none.

oh so because someone disagrees with you in a close fight, you think their an idiot?? nice one u ******! there is no ****in way marquez won the last 5 rounds!!! other than the 7th which was all marquez until he KD which should have made it 9-9, every round was close that it could have gone either way. marquez never got in a roll everytime he hit barrera he got countered by a quick right hand to the body or left hook to the face/body. the only rounds i thought for sure barrera in my mind won were the 8th it was a great bounce back round barrera he was very precise that round, and the 12th where barrera i thought landed the harder shots although it was close. the other 3 rounds were very even closer that its hard to choose!! BTW i listened to spanish announcers not the HBO crew

Normally I don't mind if people have a different scorecard, but this fight is an exception. Barrera did not do well in this fight after the sixth round. He did not win the 8th nor the 12th.

Also do not call me a ******, when you spell you wrong. Marquez got a 10-8 round because the knockdown was not scored.

Marquez won round 8. The majority of Barrera's punches missed. Barrera landed a couple of right hands, but Marquez lands better right hands and he also lands uppercuts. It's no blow out, but Barrera did not win it. The only reason why someone would bother scoring it for Barrera is because he had such a better round compared to the last one.

Marquez also won round 12 pretty clearly. Barrera again, misses the majority of his punches. Marquez lands combinations this round and lands his left hook a good amount plus his right hand.

Barrera was able to land single shots through out the fight, but Marquez clearly did the better work all night. He was more active and was landing more. He clearly won the fight. Hell I'd say John had a better case of beating Marquez then Barrera did.

Also round 10 for the record is pretty close to being a blow out like round 7 was.

Another thing about round 8. You said he was very precise, but a lot of Barrera's shot missed. Not wide lunging misses, but they didn't hit the mark either. Barrera was competitive in this fight where he was still able to hang, but he has no legit argument in beating Marquez. None.

Barrera's shots got close to Marquez's face, but they didn't land. They stopped just short.

Look at what Barrera's "missed" punches did to Marquez's face.

Marquez swells easily buddy. Barrera was still able to land punches, especially in the earlier half of the part, but he was overwhelmed. In rounds 8 and 12, he still missed a good majority of the round and Marquez threw combinations.

Barrera might have been "rolling with the punches" like Steward said, but Marquez was still following up with punches that were hitting Barrera.
