Wow Morales is getting mad props on this, getting the nod by a land slide. I think he would have beat down JMM to but I am admittedly biased, so I wanted to see what other people thought. Morales was a special fighter, a potent puncher. He had more boxing ability then he was willing to use.

morales used marquez's blueprint against pacquiao and executed it better....he did something that marquez could only cry about: BEAT Pac

Prime Morales was years ago. Before the Barrera fights, well during them was the end of his best.

God, those were kick ass fights. Back then, I think Morales could handle him.

Too many people compare the later version of Morales against JMM.

It would be close though, prime for prime.

I'd say JMM 4 sho at 130. At 126, either guy can take it. Nobody gets a KO tho.

I think Morales takes it by decisive UD especially back in the day when he was at 126 or so. JMM wasnt facing the competition that Morales was at that time. JMM has aged well but I think had they met back in the day at 126 that Morales would just be too much for him activity wise. There would obviously have to be some good exchanges, even if they are boxing, JMM would land some good shots and Morales would want to exchange after getting tagged. So it would either be mostly boxing with some exchanges or it could be more of an all out war. I favor Morales in the exchanges and with his granite chin he had back in the day, JMM might get dropped but not Morales which could give him some 10-8 rounds. The boxing parts would be interesting too as Morales was damn good at that as well so it would be interesting to see who won on the counter punching front.

I really wish Morales would have had the chance to make this fight. I pray to god he doesnt try to make it this summer for his rumored comeback. Being as JMM beat Macro, he might be tempted to chase JMM but obviously he would get KTFO at this point in time.

Its an almost guarantee that if Kahn beats Barrera (and gets that vacant 135 title in the process) that Morales fights Kahn for his rumored comeback. I wish he didnt do it but if he must, I rather him fight Kahn than JMM.

Those sayin Morales is on another level are crazy. Seriously, your crazy.

I can definitely see Morales winning but it would be a ****in war, and a JMM win wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Prime for prime this would have been a very competitive fight. Morales wasn't as good a boxer as Marquez but he was the better fighter, Guty Espadas gave Morales quite a lot of trouble in their first fight with his technical ability, he managed to lower Morales' pace and make him cautious, I wouldn't be surprised if Marquez did that as well but with more effectiveness.

Then again, Marquez has shown the tendency to slug it out when it isn't really neccessary to do so which would play into Morales' hands because Morales was better at that.

Either way it would be a great fight, I think Morales would have ultimately beaten Marquez by knockout in about 9 rounds because I think Marquez would get lured into a brawl but if that doesn't happen, it would have been a close decision that could have went either way IMO.

Prime Morales takes this no question about! He would have used his long reach and jab early in the fight to stay on the outside and using his speed to beat Marquez to the punch before he could get countered. His power would be too much for Marquez to handle. By the late rounds i think Morales wears down Marquez and would start to slug, Marquez has a tendency to want to go toe to toe at times when he is facing adversity which plays right into Morales style. Morales by late KO!
