Mayweather Will Duck Marquez, Says Oscar De La Hoya

PBF/Baldomir wasn't considered such an easy fight for PBF.
"It's really hard, I keep changing my mind back and forth on who's going to win this fight," said new IBF champ Kermit Cintron, who won his title (which Mayweather had vacated) with a fifth-round TKO victory over Mark Suarez on Saturday.

"To me, it's a toss-up," said Paul Williams, the undefeated WBO No. 1 contender, who will be fighting Mario Lucero on the undercard on Saturday, in what he hopes will be a final tune-up before challenging Antonio Margarito for that version of the title.
Margarito, however, must himself first get past a difficult defense in Atlantic City on Dec. 2 against Joshua Clottey, whose only loss was a disqualification against Baldomir in a 1999 bout he was winning on the scorecards. If Margarito prevails against Clottey, his eyes appear to be less on Williams than on the victor of Saturday's contest.
"The only two threats I see at 147 pounds are Mayweather and Baldomir," Margarito recently told ESPN.com over brunch in Las Vegas. He will have, he said, a rooting interest Saturday night.
This is for the people that keep saying $8MIL for Antonio Margarito was SO MUCH for PBF to refuse:
On July 22, Baldomir knocked out fan favorite Arturo Gatti to cement his place as a legitimate champion rather than a one-fight aberration. Promoter Dan Goossen then stepped in to table a deal that contained enough money to make both sides happy (reportedly matching the $8 million Mayweather had been offered by Arum to fight Margarito), paving the way for Saturday's fight.
And here are some more thoughts from the 147 pound division in regards to Mayweather/Baldomir since you guys SWEAR that everyone thought it was SO EASY for PBF.
"Mayweather should be the favorite," Margarito said, "but Baldomir's a dangerous fighter. We'll see."
"It's a good fight," Williams said. "They're calling it 'Pretty Risky.' To me, it's a toss-up. It don't matter who you're in the ring with, it only takes one punch to change the whole night around."
"Like I said, it's a pick 'em," added Smith, although he marginally favors the underdog. "As the fight gets gritty, toward the later rounds, the championship rounds, I'd have to lean toward the bigger guy."
Cintron tilts the other way.
"My heart is going toward Mayweather on a decision."
-- Cintron
"My heart is going toward Mayweather on a decision," he said. "It's going to be a tough fight for him, but I think he's going to pull it off. I just think that Baldomir's toughness is going to take him through to the end of the fight."

Waiting for Replies from PBF HATERS?!
I just posted some dead on FACTS about everything & in my eyes he didn't duck NOBODY. Fighters/Boxers either wasn't ready, didn't want to or wasn't worth fighting. That's why I always say to people that HATE on PBF to come correct but all I hear are the same excuses "he's scared to lose" or "He's ducking this fighter that fighter" Blah, Blah, Yadda, Yadda, YADDA! These posts & links should SHUT you guys up if not then it will be KNOWN to everyone that your HATERS because what I put on this Thread confirms PBF's greatness. As a Matter a Fact let me give you two more posts to seal the deal:
"We're looking for guys like Ricky Hatton and 'Pretty Boy' Floyd Mayweather. So you're seeing now the finishing touches on the emerging superstar, and in 2006 hopefully he will be able to claim the mantle of the real, real superstar."
Hatton emerged as the recognized 140-pound champion with his TKO of Kostya Tszyu June 11. Mayweather, the pound-for-pound king who is also promoted by Arum, stopped Arturo Gatti to claim a junior welterweight title two weeks later.
Cotto against either man would certainly qualify as a super fight, but before either match can be explored seriously, he has to keep winning."
"The only significant fight for Mayweather at junior welterweight would have been a unification fight with division kingpin Ricky Hatton, "but he's not even looking Floyd's way until at least 2007," Ellerbe said. "So there's no need to hold up the belt and the division. The only reason to keep the title would be to make a big fight at 140 in a unification fight with Hatton, but that isn't in the cards right now. So Floyd has given up the title. This way guys like Witter and Corley will have the opportunity to fight for the title and the opportunity to reach their dream."

Floyd is definitely more concerned about his record than money. That's why it would probably take realistically 30 million plus to make a fight happen with Mosley or Cotto. In all honesty, I think if you were to put 15 million against a rematch against Emanuel Augustus, Mayweather would still turn it down. He knows a fighter like Augustus could potentially beat him.Comment

Hopkins perennial boasting.
during the weight-in on the dream match, hopkins boasted that oscar will kick pacman's ass coz he knows very well that oscar had succesfully cheated his weight during those moment. Immagine Pacman lost 4 pounds in few minutes!!;now B-hop is boasting/claiming again that marquez is probably the best P4P fighter after JMM bet the over hyped barrera type boxer Juan Diaz. C'mon B-hop give yourself a little respect..keep your mouth shut.Comment

I hope this would bring PBF out of retirement. I want to see him fight again.
Im not sure but has anyone ever said "Floyd is too much of a ***** to fight me" or something of the derogatory nature to the media? I dont think anyone has ever said Floyd is afraid to fight me before they always try to act humble and say "he didn't want to fight me". As far as I know.
Im sure if someone would just have the balls enough to say "Floyd is a *****, he doesn't want to fight a real man." Floyd's ego would probably make him come out of retirement. Thats the way brash guys like Floyd are. Say it in the media eye, a public conference or the post fight conference not behind closed doors and not in a nice way. It will lure him out.Comment

Floyd called out Mosley when Mosley was high up in the rankings. Before Mosley lost to Wright Floyd mocked him.Telling Mosley to stop listening to Jin and take the fight.
When Oscar was dangerous ,Floyd called him out.Oscar replied by telling Floyd he was a spoilt brat.People even forget Floyd went up to 154 to take the fight he was not expected to win.Oscar had just obliterated Mayorga in his previous fight.
Floyd wanted Wright when Wright was that dangerous.Wright would go on to fight against Taylor and Hopkins.
People are talking about Floyd not fighting Cotto. When Floyd came up from 135,there was Hatton,Kosta,Cotto and others at 140.Floyd wanted Cotto and Cotto's people wouldnt take it.Floyd went for Kosta but Kosta went for Hatton instead.Floyd then went on to take Gatti.Hatton had just destroyed Kosta and went to watch Floyd destroying Gatti. After the fight Hatton was asked about fighting Floyd and hatton said 'maybe in 2 yrs I will be ready for the likes of Floyd'.
Floyd is the best fighter out there.People might hate him for other things but his courage, boxing wits and intelligence are unquestionable. He's awesomeComment
