  • Even OSCAR said it, Mayweather is scared, he doesnt want that prescious "0" to change after a retirement which that is the reason why he went on retirement when he heard all these big names coming up and wanting to fight him in the near future, thats not what you call pound for pound fighter, they gave him easy opponents, the only best opponent he had was Hatton and De La Hoya, and he was scared to throw many punches until he knew the other one was tired, i mean thats good strategy but he knows he cant do that with other best ones.

    • No... it doesn't make sense to stoop to fight guys who clearly aren't on his level and wouldn't generate money. If you guys haven't noticed by now Floyd at this point is only motivated by money, not titles or opponents. If you're angry, be angry at Top Rank or Golden Boy Promo for not trying to pitch a good amount to him. Why fight Mosley or Cotto for $8 mill when you got $20 mill for fighting DLH. I ain't an expert or nothin... but thats taking less for more. Thats like getting a pair of Jordan's at Payless Shoesource for $30 (not gonna happen). Why fly coach when you've grown accustomed to First class. Only guys who would even keep it interesting would be Shane, Cotto, Pacman, or maybe Berto(after 3 more fights). But lets face it... after facing DLH and Hatton for $20 mill+.... It doesn't make much sense for him to fight for less than say $15 mill.. Let me know what you guys think... Cuz you can say scared this and that but at the end of the day if you give Floyd $20 mill he would fight anyone. If I were Floyd I would let them beat eachother up until there is a clear leader and face him for another best of the best kind of fight. OPINIONS....

i hear what your saying but at the same time Floyd has to understand that the 20 mil came from fighting ODLH (which made floyd mainstream) and then Ricky Hatton, both are world known fighters that bring huge money to the table, ... look around though, no way anyone can bring that type of money and can generate the PPV sales to get him what he wants, i can't hate floyd for wanting his due, so if his heart ain't in it anymore i just say stay retired.

          • I hear you 100%. Couldn't agree more. but its crazy because its the politics of boxing that actually have so much to do with it. Oscar would probably lose to amateur boxers at this point yet he gets the biggest fight (moneywise) every year. And thats not the worst part... its not the fact that he fights the best fighters... its the fact that the best fighters end up passing on essential title fights against each other in order to fight gay DLH (which ****s up boxing). Then when the fighter proceeds to destroy DLH and gets challenged by the fighter who was trying to fight him before DLH, he usually moves up in weight class or some nonsense that throws off the whole thing. Manny was a light weight 1 year and a half ago. Now all of a sudden he is fighting DLH at welter and Hatton at 140. If he isn't careful he can wind up like Duran (going up in weight class from lightweight all the way to middleweight only to eventually lose to Leonard and to Hearns by KO etc.) and for what?!?! We all know that fight thats has to happen for Pacman is Pacman vs JMM 3 but politics might mess that up to. Floyd wanted Cotto when he was at 140lbs after the Gatti fight and Top Rank didn't want to make that fight. Cotto and Floyd wanted to fight eachother and Top Rank messed it up. Now for the FIRST time in his career Cotto finally gets to CHOOSE who he fights. That sucks! Most fighters fight who they want... But it just seemed like Cotto was always eating out of the plate that was served to him. He was always saying "I'll be ready for whoever THEY put in front of me"... I hate it. Thats why Floyd left Bob Arums' old ass. Pacman is in Top Rank but he gets to fight Margarito if he wanted LMFAO. Cotto should leave Top Rank and guide his own career.

            • Mayweather would probably beat Marquez fairly comfortably but again the problem is mayweather wont fight anyone with a pulse. the only fighter that he will fight is Hatton because his style is horrible for fighting someone like Mayweather or Pac whos speed kills!

Stop kidding yourselves, Marquez would not even hang with a Welter let alone a LWW.

Oscar needs to seriously stop fooling himself.
ARE YOU SERIOUS? Juan Diaz not a top 10 fighter?
and David Diaz and ODLH were top 10 fighters?
Why should Manny call out Floyd and not JMM who is clearly fighting better opposition than Manny and is UNDISPUTED at the moment

I can never say De La Hoya has ducked people, you can not look at his resume and say he has ducked fighters, why and he hell would he wanted to fight Paul Williams or Margarito last year when he was looking for a mega fight to possibly go out on retirment on. Yeah Paul Williams is a good fighter but box office his name is almost still unknown to the wide masses out there.
                  --------------------------------------------------------------------------

dude, my points have everything to do with him absolutely ducking opponents..and going after the almighty dollar, for years Oscar made 20mil plus while his opponents didn't even come close to that.....You are obviously a Dela Hoya supporter...Why didn't he fight Margarito after Margs beat Cotto to a pulp, all of a sudden he says "oh i won't fight another Mexican". Paul Williams has been screaming for a fight and as you say, Oscar's never ducked anyone, then why did he duck Williams.....answer= too much risk and far less money....Bottom line is I"m just calling Oscar to be the two face he is, for years he's chased the dollar, and now that his stock is low, he's hating on someone else doing and asking for what he had gotten away with for years!!!

ultimately we'll never know what a mayweather/cotto, mayweather/mosley or a mayweather /pac-man fight will be...... mayweather wishes to get paid a certain dollar figure to get back in the ring, i'm not gonna sit here and call anyone who steps participates in a very dangerous sport a coward, if his demands aren't met then he's cool with not stepping back in the ring....if they are then he'll have to back up his words and fight once again...

Mayweather would fight anyone at 140 - 147 if the money fits Floyd's demands, the problem is Floyd's demands are far too ambitious.

I've never seen a boxer so obcessed with Money, shame really, Floyd had the right opponents to be top 10 OAT,
