i dont see the point to the fight in the long term.......cruiser is alot of weight......he doesnt even walk around at 200......but adamek is slow....the division does not really matter to most people

hopkins right hand would ko dawson easily.....glen johnson rocked him hard in round 10 and got robbed...hopkins has a better defense

That's a very good point. But Roy had pretty much cleaned out the LHW division, and he went back down to fight Tarver.

If Hopkins went up and beat Adamek than came back down and beat Dawson, it'd be more comparable.

Hopkins is 1-1 at LHW....I think he should fight the best fighter P4P from SMW to CW, and that's Dawson(outside of Hop himself of course).

Hopkins is six summers away from being 50 for crying out loud. It wont be held against him for not fighting such and such, youre getting a gift every time he suits up.

I wasn't saying he should do that, I was saying you can't compare what Roy did because Roy still fought the most legit opponent around his weight.

Roy didnt fight the best at light heavyweight every time out, he was highly criticized for who he fought, not to mention Hopkins dominated Tarver and Tarver decisively beat Roy twice. Hop beat Johnson, Roy got ktfo. Sure you want to continue this?

I'm pretty sure Hopkins is aware of Dawson's situation. If he beats Tarver he has to fight mandatory Tavoris Cloud, and since Hopkins has said that he wants to retire by this year, most likely the fight won't happen.

Roy pretty much cleaned out LHW, with the exception of Tarver when he moved up. All I was saying was that you can't compare the validity of Roy moving up to HW and Hopkins moving up to CW because of that. Especially considering he came back down to fight Tarver.

You're right that history counts, and 3 lineal titles means a lot. I conceded that. But I, personally, would much rather see Hopkins fight the best fighter at his current weight, and a guy ranked much higher P4P, than Adamek at CW. Especially considering Dawson beat the **** out of Adamek.

Hopkins is the ****in boss, he can do whatever he wants. I just personally think that Dawson is a much better, and more lucrative option.

I'm a big Hopkins fan but come on! The only genuine 175lb fighter he's fought was an under par Tarver. Dawson is far more of a threat than Tarver was at that time.

Yeah... Dawson didn't even have a belt and was a nobody when Tarver was the lightweight champ, but don't let that cloud your thinking.

Sounds pretty good. We have to see, how Hopkins adjust o the weight, because is a 25Lbs jump, and even tho Hopkins have great skills, the weight could be a huge factor. If he doesnt have too uch trouble with the fight, and if he doesnt lose too much speed, hell UD Adamek easily.

Mainly my whole point is that Hopkins is 44 and almost 44 and a half, nobody expects a person that old to fight the very best all the time if at all. How old was Roy when he was doing the cleaning out that you mention, also there was a guy by the name of Darius that many thought he would lose to and he didnt fight.

I'm not talking about him fighting Dawson rather than Tarver back then, I'm saying that Dawson now is much more of a threat than Tarver was then (when he'd blown up in weight for a film), so I don't see your point.
