well he did beat them both so i think you have too give him the edge if there all in there primes, though its realy close call on all occasions, but Hops didnt have any answers for joe and he clearly is not past it also Jones was bouncing back with wins and his upcoming fight with Shieka will be telling of his defeat to Calzaghe, i think what you have to take into consideration also is a prime joe means no hand trouble and knockout power which he lost late oon, that said all three are amazingly good in there primes but there is greater factual evidence that Hops and RJJ are beatable and both got ugly bust up faces nows actualy no Hopkins is just ugly Calzaghe was the only man to make RJJ bleed badly

He woulda made it competitive w/ either, but he woulda lost to both imo.

I certainly think it's a possibility. Joe's got the speed and the awkwardness....awkwardness being the main point. Whether he actually would have beaten either or not is anyone's guess; but "could he have?"....absolutely in my opinion.

No disrespect to Joe but he doesn't beat a 2000 Hopkins. No way, no how. Say what you want about Joe not being in his prime, he's as active in the ring as he ever was. Even then, against a Hopkins who barely threw, his punch output dipped by quite a bit just off the little bit of counters Hopkins threw. How many of you guys watched Hopkins in his prime? He would've made Joe very tentative with his counter right which was just as lethal then as it is now, except he threw it far, far more. Not to mention his defense was just as solid and his chin just as strong. Hopkins UD12.

              see bolded part,

people really just don't remember Hopkins back then, or they never watched him fight.

I would have love to have seen RJ/Calzaghe and Joe's big head shrinking in the ring.

If the fight would have happend we would not hear about Calzaghe the ATG now.

I think they both would beat him. Not 10 times out of 10 though... More like 6 or 7
