Roy or Bernard in their primes?
Calzaghe, could he have beaten....

The Hopkins fight would've been interesting in there primes. Hopkins had a good game plan in place for the Calzaghe fight but his age caught up with him. Saying that, Calzaghe wasn't in his prime either in that fight so maybe Calzaghe may have neutralised Hopkins better? Good match-up.
That fight would've been a toss-up IMO. Shame Hopkins pulled out of it in 02.
No one beats prime Roy. Sorry, but Joe would get his arsehole torn to bits by a prime Roy Jones Jr!Comment

But Calzaghe-Hopkins in 2000 would probably have ended in another SD win for Joe. He was a bit faster and could punch harder without hurting his hand back in those days. Both Joe and Bernard were equally past best when they fought in 2008, despite the age difference. Bernard was a very young 43.Comment

i think jones vs calzaghe would have been a great fight, one of the best of our time, calzaghe has a huge heart and tremendous will to win but i see jones stopping him in a classic, calzaghe pressures early and tries to negate jones' speed with his own but jones counters with crisp punches off the ropes, the first 4 rounds very close, punch out put vs power, round 5 jones hurts calzaghe with a counter and calzaghe goes down, he gets up again and recovers (he has great recovery rate too) and they go at it again with jones winning the exchanges. calzaghe's will starts to break by round 8 as jones starts to pull away and calzaghe (yes calzaghe) gets tired from punching so much, jones hurts calzaghe again but calzaghe keeps coming gunning for the knockout himself being down on the cards, in a dramatic 10th round calzaghe throws over 100 punches but jones keeps his cool with great counters off the ropes and catches calzaghe with a devastating left hook, calzaghe gets up but is clearly wobbled and tries to buy time, roy turns into rj and goes for the kill. calzaghe is up against the ropes being hit with flush right hands and enzo throws the towel in.
as roy jones wisely pointed out himself, to beat calzaghe you HAVE to knock him out.
I should write scripts in hollywood.Comment

I think a prime Roy Jones beats Joe.
The Bernard fight would be a pick 'em one. As ppl have pointed out Joe would probably have had less problems stylistically with a prime BHop than he did against the 43 year old version.Comment
