Toney spent the next year fighting just 7lbs north of 168.
In response to the what Calzaghe's resume SHOULD have looked like thread...

I don't buy Roy's excuse either, he got beat fairly and those were still great wins for Tarver and Johnson.Comment

Don't buy that line from Jones - certainly not for the Johnson fight - and I'm not a "fan boy" of anyone, unlike your good self.Comment

That's fair enough, the weight was an issue though and it effected the fights. Whether they would have beat a 100% Jones is questionable but not out of the question.Comment

Toney ALWAYS has weight issues - it's a long standing joke.
He spent the next year after fighting Jones just 7lbs north at 175 - how did he make the weight for those fights?Last edited by Hook; 02-26-2009, 12:18 AM.Comment

He was extremely drained for the Jones fight though. He was having weight issues for his fights prior and the Jones fight was one too far, he then moved up to LHW and spent less than 7 months there before moving up against to CW.Comment

That's the truth, he moved up to CW and then back down to LHW for a fight, then back to CW. Clearly a sign of someone with bad weigh management. What's hard to understand? Corrales was weight drained against Mayweather to a lesser extent and still ended up fighting back at the weight. You've clearly no knowledge on what being weight drained is all about.Comment

I wouldn't say that. I've found his posts pretty interesting. Throwing insults around like "you're an idiot" doesn't really constitute a worthwhile comeback to the quality posts he's been writing. No offense. Obviously, the guy isn't an idiot, you just disagree with him.
Just a long winded idiot with an agenda.Comment
