Degale is reacting all wrong, he needs to stop making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Shut up before you become the next audley you arrogant nob. When sutherland gets his hands on you it will all be over
Eubank has walked the walk and earned teh right to talk teh talk, DeGale should STFU and listen like the N00b he is.
Eubank is right, DeGales style is all wrong for the Pro's of teh 4 or 5 Olympians turning pro he is least likely to make it, especially with an attitude problem likely to get in the way.
I hope DeGale can impress me when he turns pro because currently there are 2 young British and Irish middleweights better than him. Those are Darren Sutherland, and George Groves.
He no doubt has world class talent, but under Warren that will be wasted. Warren doesn't let his boxers naturally progress. He feeds them bums for 20 or so fights, and then throws them in at the deep end. Boxing should be about growing and learning slowly, but also steadily improving. You can't steadily improve if you fight mediocre opponents instead of opponents that gradually rise in skill and threat. This is proved with Amir Khan.
With the right matchmaking and trainer, Khan may have needed to improve his defence to counter the rising skill level of opponents. Instead he was fed powder fist, low talent boxers, that were chosen to make him look good on t.v. This gave him a false sense of confidence, and ended up biting him in the arse when he faced Prescott. Maybe if he was matched against boxers who could take him 12 hard rounds, and force him to think twice about his defence, he might have fared better against Prescott?
The point is, DeGale will end up very rich, but I doubt he will be as successful as Darren Sutherland.
DeGale's attitude stinks! He shouldn't be answering back to any of the former/pro's like Eubank, Calzaghe and Haye who have apprehensions about his chances at pro. He should just STFU and take it in. Who does he think he is? He hasn't even had his first pro fight yet!
Why sign with Warren for millions if you're so confident you'll succeed?
To be fair, if I was in DeGale's position, I would take the money. Boxing is a fickle sport where each fight can be your last. However, he should just shut up, keep his head down, and prove the doubters wrong.
Why sign with Warren for millions if you're so confident you'll succeed?
Is that a serious question?
Anyway, both Calzaghe and Eubank were right in what they said, and actually neither directly attacked De Gale or even said that he wouldn't make it. Hell, Calzaghe even issues a clarification of his comments and praised his achievements at the Olympics! He's not making many friends at the moment!
