Hopkins was coming off a win over Winky and Tarver and beat Pavlik after Calzaghe fight.

Eubank was 4-2 before he fought Calzaghe. Had two fights at 175 before Calzgahe fight. Took the fight at short notice. He was planning to fight at 175 for WBC title but had to enter a 2 week weight draining regime to make weight. Eubank never won a fight again

Coming from a fan of Floyd who fought Baldomir, a guy with 9 losses then. Isn't this the same fight who turned down Margarito because he had 5 losses?
Also the same fighter who fought Zudah just after he'd lost his previous bout?

Mayweather may have some better names on his resume overall, but the difference is Calzaghe wanted to fight the best at 168, Mayweather didn't at 140, 147, 154.

It had the most significance. He gained the WBO from that fight and went to defend it over 20 times..... Cal was green and Eubank had buckets of experience. It was a great win regardless of your opinion.

The probability of such a fight or any fight before Kessler's June mandatory is slim however. Palle said he'd work towards that fight now.

Kessler must be fuming with his management if he wasn't already.

Is Kessler leaving Palle? I read that the Larsen fight would have been his last under Palle. He should leave Palle and sign with another promoter if he wasn't going to already, I'm sure one of the major US or UK promoters would be willing to sign him.

He turned down Margarito because he didn't want to do business with Arum. Arum owes Mayweather money from the Judah fight and he has not denied this.

Calzaghe fought Lacy(Green) Eubank (weight drained and past it) and Kessler a decent win.

Mayweather has fought more prime fighters, more p4p fighters and fought in 5 weight classes and is the better boxer.
