Kelly Pavlik Returns in May, Several Options Exist

WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik is slated to return to the ring in the month of May at the Quicken Loans Arena in Ohio, which seats a max of about 20,500. On Saturday night, Pavlik battered Marco Antonio Rubio for nine rounds at Ohio's Chevrolet Centre. [details]

If Winky can beat Pwill and do so decisively, I'd like to see him get a shot. If not, nothin Pavlik does outside of AA or Sturm interests me.

Those are good options, especially Abraham. Duddy or Mora would be meaningless.

            Hey Mark,

one thing Pavlik's team forgot is that Mundine won't be ready to fight KP in May - this ain't no possibility for a fight in May.

In addition, why is AA no option from your point of view? If he makes easy work of Simon as expected, he already told German newspaper BILD that he will be back in the ring in May.

So come on, make Pavlik - Abraham happen. $1 million plus German tv rights ain't much for a unification bout and Pavlik would nearly sell out "The Q" regardless which opponent he faces and the best fight at 160 would add to that...

Hmmm the fights at the Q? I might drive out and check this out if Kelly fights a real fighter. Forrest V Pavlik I would go check out for sure, especially if they have decent undercards.

Come this time next year Pavlik's defenses of the coveted world middleweight title could look like this:

                Lockett
                Whobio
                Mora
                Duddy
                Forrest.

                Result:
1: Arum has filled Pavliks pockets with even more greenbacks
2: Pavliks legacy takes a dip
3: AA has grown out of MW and fans are robbed of the only match-up that matters.

Funny thing is that Arum talked Sturm likely to happen later this year at the post-presser but said at the same time that a bout vs. Abraham includes to much hurdles to make it happen aka monetary demands.

                  WTF?!

Sturm is likely but Abraham is too expensive? A guy who said that he would likely fight Sturm for free (just promotional capitations)...no way!

Bolded is the part that worries me. AA making weight by the time this goes off. He had trouble making it for Marquez, looked way more comfortable with a few extra pounds on him.
It seems like AA is killing himself to make middle.
