Pavlik Punishes Rubio in Grand Middleweight Return

Before a packed crowd at the Chevrolet Center in Youngstown, Ohio, Kelly Pavlik (35-1, 31KOs) stopped Marco Antonio Rubio (43-5-1, 38KOs) after nine rounds of one-sided action to retain the WBO/WBC middleweight titles. Pavlik's first bout since the decision loss to Bernard Hopkins last October at the catch-weight of 170-pounds. [details]

Palvick hoppkins 11. Lets see if he could avenge his only loss. I dont know but palvick will take him this time. Then he could be once again a top player in the sport again.

LOL at the guy at the end saying the world wants to see Pavlik Hopkins II. Pavlik will never beat Hopkins. I dont care about the excuses they want to give. That was boxing 101.

He punished Rubio all fight. Looked solid. bring on Abraham I say. Why waste his time with Duddy? It'll be murder.

Hopkins could kill Pavlik in the ring if he wanted to.

I enjoyed the Cotto fight and was impressed with his win. Rubio had no business being in there with Pavlik but at the same time, and this is coming from a big Pavlik fan, I was not impressed with Pavlik tonight. This was a nice esteem boosting fight for Kelly but if he fights against Abraham as he did against Rubio I think Pavlik's in for a long hard night.

Pavlik is much better when he's more aggressive. I didn't see that tonight. Overall however both good wins for Cotto and Pavlik.

I really hope that Pavik/Duddy does NOT happen. Duddy isn't going to last 6 rounds with Pavlik. He left me completely unimpressed tonight. Here's to hoping we get Abraham/Pavilk, that would be a great and exciting fight.

I hope and wish Pavlik or rather his people would move on directly to Abraham. I give Duddy almost no hope in beating Pavlik, and Sturm, while a good boxer, doesnt have any real power, so I don't see him hurting or getting past Pavlik. Abraham however has the chin, power, and boxing ability to beat all of these guys. I'm a fan of both Abraham and Pavik and though I think Abraham stops Pavlik mid fight, I think it'll be an incredibly exciting fight. Duddy and Sturm are a waste of time. Let the winner of Pavlik vs Abraham fight Sturm and be destroyed.

Bob Arum is never going to let this fight happen though. I don't believe it ever will.
