You know how in basketball when players go cold shooting? Well the announcers/coached always say one thing. Drive the hoop and try to get a lay up to get your confidence back. This was Cotto's layup. Even the easiest shots or opponents in this case can do something for you pshycologically.
"This was a very important fight psychologically," Cotto's trainer and uncle Evangelista Cotto said. "Miguel had to get back into the ring. He looked very decisive."
His uncle's words express what I'm saying. It had to have helped mentally...
And I thought the same thing you did when his uncle picked him up like that. That's how important this fight was for him.
